FITS EXTRAORDINARY P.~_RFUR~~L~NCE CF HIS DLaTIT:S, <br />ANL) DECL~RI '3~r AN I-~ ~IERGEi`~CY. <br />wv,'EREAS, on July 27, 1962, Patrolman John <br />s.~ib~ons of the North Jlmsted Police ~:3epartment was alone in a <br />police car at about 10:00 o'cloc~ P.~r1. when word reached him <br />of a hold up of Molnar t s r~elicatessen; and <br />~~HER1rAS, a description was available of the <br />automobile in tnrhich the thieves had made t4~eir <;et-away; and <br />~~B1=ZEAS, ~~'atrol~nan Gibbons proceeded alone in <br />pursuit of the crimif~als, located their automobile at the <br />Beckrest Beverage parYCing lot ar~~d singlehandedly apprehended <br />the criminals and helc4 t'~em until other police cars arrived at <br />the scene when it ~nas discovered that one of the criminals was <br />a veteran of three prior convictions and the other a former in- <br />mate of the Hospital for Criminally Insane; and <br />IT~CEtZ.E.AS, this Council.. feels that there is a <br />debt of gratitude due from th.e members of the City Adm~_nistration <br />and on behalf of the public and tr=at such exemplary conduct on <br />the part of a member of the police Force should be publicly <br />acknowledged and. commended. <br />NOI~+i, T~i~;~~2EFcJRE, PE IT RESOLVF~~ LJTT the Council <br />of the City of North ""lmsted, State of Ohio: <br />Section 1: Ti~::at the minutes of this Council show <br />the gratitude and appreciation of the citizens of North 'Amsted, <br />its '~Zayor and other administrative officers and the members of <br />this Council to Patrolman ,john Gibbons of the North ~7lmsted <br />Police Department for his excellent police work in singlehandedl}r <br />apprehending the criminals who held up and robbed both 'wlolnarts <br />Delicatessen and the Beckre~t =:3everage Store on July 27, 1962, <br />and the Cler'K of the Co~incil be and is hereb~T directed to semi t:~ <br />"atrolman Tohn ~:7ib'~ons a certified cony of this resolution. <br />Section 2• That this Resoluti~~n is hereby determines' <br />to be an emergency measure necessary for tiie preservation of tt~e <br />public welfare and safety of the inhat~itants of the t=ity of <br />North Olmsted by virtue o~~ the nece~:sity of rec.o~;nizing the <br />exemplary service rendered by '.=atrolman John Gibbons herein <br />named; WFEREF';~`'~E, this Resolution shal_1 take effect a.nc' be iri <br />force immediately tenon its passa?e, otherwise, at the earliest <br />period allowe~~? by law. <br />PASSE ~ ~ : ~.~~= ~ /96 z. ~~ ~ <br />Ralph E.
