CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />,,~: <br />ORDINANCE No. 62-143 <br />By ~ -~ ~-t <br />AN OR'INANCE AUTHORIZING THE SERVICE DIRECTOR <br />TO PURCHASE FOUR USED BUSES FROM THE CLEVELAND <br />TRANSIT SYSTEM AT A TOTAL COST NOT TO BXCEED <br />$2,600.00 AND AFPROPRIATING $2,600.00 FRC1M THE <br />PERMANENT IMPROVEMENT FUND TO PAY FOR THE SAME, <br />AND DECLARING AN E'~1ERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the <br />the North Olmsted School Board <br />term opening in September will <br />more bus service from the Nort: <br />its contract with the Board of <br />rnent can supply; and <br />Service Director reports that <br />has notified him that the school <br />be on a split day basis requiring <br />h Olmsted Municipal Bus Lines under <br />Education than the present equip- <br />WHEREAS, the Cleveland Transit System has in- <br />dicated that it will sell four used buses, each of which is <br />estimated to have a life expectancy of more than five years, for <br />a price of $650.00 each; and <br />WHEREAS, Council has determined that this is an <br />emergency and the immediate acquisition of additional buses is <br />essential for the preservation of the public peace, safety and <br />welf are in transporting the children of this City to and from <br />school. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council <br />of the City of North Olmsted, State of Ohio: <br />Section 1: That the Service Director be and he is <br />hereby authorized to purchase from the Cleveland Transit System. <br />four used buses for the North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line at a <br />total cost not to exceed $2,600.00. Said purchase to be made <br />as soon as possible so that the buses may be put into service in <br />time for the opening of the Fall school term. <br />Section 2: That in order to pay for the purchase of <br />said buses there be appropriated from the Permanent Improvement <br />Fund the sum of $2,600.00 and that the Director of Finance be <br />and he is hereby authorized to disburse said sum in payment for <br />said buses. <br />ATTE : ' <br />Lo ise Hall, Clerk o Council <br />Section 3: That this ordinance is hereby declared to <br />be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation <br />of the public peace, safety and welfare by virtue of the immediate <br />necessity of providing transportation for school pupils who are <br />about to start on a split-day, two session schedule upon the <br />opening of the Fall school term, and this ordinance shall, there- <br />fore, go into immediate effect upon the passage thereof. <br />PASSED: August 8, 1962. /'~j~ GZ~ <br />Bruce Mac//Donald, President <br />of Council <br />APPRQYF~D : f , <br />.~,. <br />Pa~Ci'1~. gar au, Mayor <br />-a~.,6 ~ <br />
