RESOLUTION N0. 240. <br />BY: Mr. Crider. A RESOLUTION DEDICATED TO ACTION <br />RPCOGNIZI ~ THE IMPACT AND SERIOUS~SS OF <br />THE TRAFFIC PROBLEM ON BROO~PARK $OJI~ IN <br />THE SOUTHWEST SECTIO~i OF CUYA1i0GA COUNTY, <br />AND SNDORSING THS OUTER BELT SOUTH Ali <br />REQUESTING THE OHIO STATE HIGHGIAY DBPART- <br />ME~T TO TAKE NECESSARY STEPS TtyWARD ITS <br />DEQELOPMENT. <br />WHEREAS, this Council recograzes the impact and seriousness of the <br />traffic problem now exa.sting on Brookpark Road, and <br />WHEREAS, Br®okpark Road is an arterial state highway which ostensively <br />serves vehicular traffic emanating from the industrAal plants which ad~oia <br />it, and <br />WHEREAS, traffic congestion of that thoroughfare has reached such <br />proportions as to discourage and deter the further development of vacant <br />lands for industrial pmrposes thereby hampering the industrial gr®wth of <br />this community, and <br />WHEREAS, this impediment to the future grcntth of iBdustry will, a ml <br />does, have a narked effect up©a the general economy of Metropolitan Cleve- <br />land, and <br />WHEREAS, various governmental sari civic units, being cogni$ant of this <br />fact, have cosclucted exhaustive studies in an effort t© alleviate the <br />acuteness of the problea, sad <br />WHEREAS, said studies have substantially determined the location of a» <br />freeway, kac~rts as the Outer Belt Smuth, which would s®lve the pr®bleas a~td <br />allow a normal industrial anti commercial growth for the benefit of the en- <br />tire Metropolitan area, and <br />WHEREAS, any delay to rectify the condition would be economically and <br />sociologically tansound, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Sectiaa~1.~. That this Council manifeffit its endorsement of the Outer <br />Belt ~ut~ by lexuing its aid and support to its development. <br />Sectiem,2~, That this Council enlist the aid of all citisens, in par- <br />ticular~n~strialists and civic leaders, to strive far the realization <br />of that freeway. <br />Section .~.a That the proper authorities be requested to prepare <br />precise ~s for the purpose of obtaining necesa~ary rights of way <br />since any further delay will result in mounting costs for said rights of <br />way. <br />Section That the Ohio State Highway Department, and the Federal <br />Bureau of a s be requested and urged to include in the National System <br />of Interstate Highways that portion of Brookpark Road extending west from <br />Ridge Read to the Cleveland H+~pkins Airport. <br />Sectie~~, That the Clerk of Council be, and he is hereby direct <br />to transs~.t certified copies of this resolution to the governmental auth- <br />orities concerned so that the terms of this resolution shall to then <br />becoae known. <br />Section 6.
