<br />HAZARDOUS TO LIFE-AND FROFEBTY FROM FIRE OR
<br />EXPLOSION, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT

<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED,
<br />STATE OF OHIO::
<br />Section 1. Ado tion of Fire Prevention Co e. There is hereby
<br />adopted by the City of ort msted, io, or t e purpose of prescribing
<br />regulations governing conditions ha~rardous to life and property from fire
<br />and explosion, that certain Code known as the Fire Prevention Code recom-
<br />mended by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, being particularly the
<br />1953 edition as amended i n January, 195., and the whole thereof, save and
<br />except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended (by
<br />Section 6 of this Ordinance), of which code three {3) copies are on file,
<br />one in the office of the Director of Public Safety, the Building Department
<br />and the Fire Department of the City of North .Olmsted, and the same are
<br />hereby adopt®d and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein,
<br />and froffi the date on which this ordinance shall take effect, the provisions
<br />thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the City of North Olmsted

<br />{b) The Director of Public Safety, upon the recommendations of
<br />the Chief of the Fire Department and/or the Building Commissioner, shall
<br />detail members of said-departments as inspectors to carry out the pro-
<br />visions of this Ordinance as may from time to time be required,
<br />S~ction~. Definitions„ Wherever the word ~I~+iunicpalityn is
<br />used in the ~ re gre-ventio~n o-de, it-shall be held to mean the City-_of
<br />North Olmsted.. Wherever the words nChief of the Bureau of Fire Preven-
<br />tion~ are used in the Fire Prevention Code, they shall be held to mean the
<br />Chief of the Fire Department.

<br />Ssctiou 6. Amendments Made in the Fire Prevention Gods,
<br />ire revention Code is amended-and c aged in the o11ow-
<br />ing respects: Section l.ll, paragraph (b}, delete words "Bureau of Fire
<br />Prevention', replace with words nFire Department"; paragraph {c), delete
<br />words nBureau of Fire Preventionn, replace with words Fire Depa.rttt~entn;
<br />paragraph (d), delete words nBureau of Fare Prevention", replace with
<br />words Building Departments.
<br />Section 7. i~odifications~ The Chief of the Fire Department
<br />shall have power to modify any oiTthe provisions of the Fire-Prevention
<br />Code upon application in writing by the owner or lessee, or his duly
<br />authorized agent, when there are practical difficulties in the way of
<br />carrying out the strict letter of the code, provided that the spirit of
<br />the code shall be observed, public safety secured, and substantial justic
