<br />BY; ~'• ° AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE DISCHARGING
<br />OF FIREARMS, SHOOTING WITH OTHER WEAPONS,
<br />AND-THE SALE OF FIREARMS TO MINORS.
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED,
<br />STATE OF OHIO;
<br />Section 1. That no person shall shoot, fire or discharge a
<br />shotgun, ri~e~ pistol, cannon, air gun or firearm of any kind, or make
<br />use of any sling, pea shooter, bow and arrow, or other missile, within
<br />the City of North Olmsted, Ohio, except that the provision of this
<br />section shall not apply to any military company when drilling under the
<br />command of an officer thereof, or to regular shooting or archery clubs,
<br />or shooting or archery ranges, having a written permit from the Mayor,
<br />or to targets privately erected for practice, when permitted in writing
<br />by the Mayor, or to the use of firearms in the lawful defense of the
<br />person, family or property of any person, or by any police officer in
<br />the lawful discharge of his duties.
<br />Se__ction 2. That no person shall sell, barter, furnish, or give
<br />to a minor wx~d~r`~e age of seventeen years, an air gun, musket, rifle,
<br />shotgun, revolver, pistol, or other firearm, or ammunition therefor, or
<br />being the owner or having charge or control thereof, knowingly permit it
<br />to be used by a minor under such age.
<br />Sectio,,n~,~. Any violation of the provisions of this Ordinance
<br />shall be deemed a misdemeanor and shall be punishable by a fine not
<br />exceeding Forty-Nine Dollars 049.00) and costs.
<br />Section lr. That Ordinance No. 990, passed September 2, 1952,
<br />and any other ordinance or parts of ordinances which may be in conflict
<br />with the provisions of this ordinance be and the same are hereby repealed.
<br />Section 5. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an.
<br />emergency measure, necessary for the preservation of the public peace,
<br />health, safety and welfare in that it provides for the immediate pro-
<br />hibition of the discharging of firearms and the use of other dangerous
<br />weapons and the sale of firearms to minors with the City, and is necessary
<br />for the protection of life and property.
