ORDINANCE N0. 9 54 <br />BY: MR. HATTON ORDINANCE FIXING THE COMPENSATION <br />AND VACATION PERIODS OF THE BUS <br />DRIVERS OF THE NORTH QLM~TED NNNI- <br />CIPAL BUS LINE BEGINNITJG APRIL 1, <br />1952. <br />OHIO <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OL~ISTED, <br />Section 1. That on and after the 1st day of April, 1952 <br />the compensatio of the regular and extra bus drivers of the North <br />Olmsted Municipal Bus Line shall be as follows: <br />Any person employed as a bus driver, who has had no pre- <br />vious experience or not sufficient previous experience, shall serve <br />as an apprentice for a period of one year. During the first three <br />months of said apprentice period he shall receive X1.50 per hour; <br />during the second three months of said apprentice period he shall re- <br />ceive X1.55 per hour; duringg the next three months of said apprentice <br />period he shall receive 1.6U per hour; and during the last three <br />months of said apprentice period he shall receive X1.65 per hour; and <br />thereafter he shall receive X1.70 per hour. All bus drivers who have <br />served their apprentice period shall receive X1.70 per hour. <br />Sg,~~ On and after April 1, 1952, each regular or extra <br />bus driver sha 1 receive the following vacation; He shall be entitled <br />to one week's vacation with pay in the year following one year of con- <br />tinuous service; a week's vacation to consist of six days, at the rate <br />of eight hours per day. At the expiration of two years and thereafter, <br />he shall be allowed two weeks annual vacation with pay at the rate of <br />eight hours per day, six. days per week. After the completion of five <br />years of continuous service, and for each year thereafter, up to and <br />including eleven years of continuous service, he shall be allowed one <br />additional day's pay at the above rate per annum for such service, so <br />that the maximum number of days for vacation with pay, regardless of <br />service, shall not exceed eighteen days at the hourly rate of eight <br />hours per day. All bus drivers shall receive their regular hourly <br />rate for a period not exceeding eight fours for the f oilowing holidays: <br />New Years Day, ~'Temorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving <br />Day, and Christmas Day, on which they shall not be required to work.. <br />Bus drivers in addition to compensation for regular scheduled time <br />shall be paid each day on which they work for one-half hour as an al- <br />lowance for show-up or check-in time.. Howeger, in order to receive <br />pay for one-half hour show-up time, drivers shall show up or check in <br />one-half hour before the start of their scheduled run, otherwise they <br />shall receive pay only from the actual time they show up or cheek in <br />to the time of their scheduled run. <br />Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances contrary <br />to and inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed insofar <br />as they conflict with this ordinance. <br />Section 4. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an ewer- <br />gency measure, the emergency being that it is necessary for the im- <br />mediate preservation of public health, peace, safety and welfare, and <br />to immediately provide adequate compensation for the operators of the <br />Municipal Buses. <br />PASSED: March 1$, 1952 <br />ATTEST: <br />~__ <br />_ 'E <br />.
