t <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMST.ED ORDINANCE NO. 65- ;~0 Page Z <br />337. 16 NUMBER OF LIGHTS PERMITTED; RED AND <br />FLASHING LIGHTS. <br />(a) Whenever a motor vehicle equipped with headlights is <br />also equipped with any auxiliary lights, or spotlight, or any light on the <br />front thereof pro,~ecting a beam of an intensity greater than three hundred <br />candle power, not more than a total of five of any such lights on the front of <br />a vehicle shall be lighted at any one time when such vehicle is upon a street <br />or highway. <br />(b) Any lighted light or illuminating device upon a motor <br />-~ vehicle, other than headlights, spotlights, signal lights or auxiliary driving <br />lights, which pro,~ect a beam of light of an intensity greater than three <br />hundred candle pc3wer shall be so directed that no part of the beam will <br />strike the level of the roadway on which the vehicle stands at a distance of <br />more than seventy-five feet from the vehicle. <br />(c) No person shall drive or move any vehicle or equipment <br />upon any street or highway with any light or device thereon displaying a red <br />light mounted on the front thereof. This subsection does not apply to <br />emergency vehicles, school buses, traffic line stripers, snow plows, rural <br />mail delivery vehicles, State highway survey vehicles, funeral escort vehicles <br />and si miler equipment operated by the Ohio Department of Highways or <br />local authorities. <br />(d) Flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles, <br />except as a means for indicating a right or a left turn, or in the presence of <br />a vehicular traffic hasard requiring unusual care in approaching, or over- <br />taking or passing. This prohibition does not apply to vehicles operating <br />under special permits pursuant to Sections 339.01 and 339. 011, disabled <br />vaht~cles or machinery permitted by Section 337. 10 to have a flashing red <br />light. (ORC 451 ~. 17) <br />Section 2: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be <br />an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the <br />Qublic peace, health, safety and welfare by virtue of the fact that Section <br />337. 16 prior to this ara~endment is in conflict with the provisions of the <br />State Statutes enacted by the 1965 State Legislature, WHEREFORE, this <br />Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage, <br />otherwise, at the earliest period allowed by law. _ <br />PASSED: <br /> <br />r ~ <br />Francis J.
