~ 1, <br />CITY OF RORTH Oi_MSTED ORDINANCE NO, b5-,,~b~ Page 2 <br />313.02 THROUGH STRF..ETS, STOP AND YIF'L.D RIGHT OF <br />WAY SIGNS. <br />(a) All State routes and all sections of streets and highways <br />on which are operated motor coaches for carrying passengers for hire along a <br />fixed or regular route under authority granted by Council are hereby designated <br />as through streets or highways, provided that stop signs shall be erected at <br />all intersections with such through streets or highways, except as otherwise <br />• provided in this section. aVhere two or more through streets or highways <br />intersect and no traffic control signal is in operation, stop signs shall be <br />erected at one or more entrances thereto, except as otherwise provided in <br />this section. <br />(b} Other streets or highways or portions thereof within the <br />Municipality, with a continuous length of more than one mile between the <br />limits of such street or highway or portion thereof, at the entrances to which <br />vehicular traffic from the majority of intersecting streets or highways is <br />controlled by "stop'' or "yield" signs or traffic control signals are hereby <br />designated as through streets or highways. For purposes of this section, the <br />limits of such street or highway or portion thereof shall be a municipal corpor- <br />ation line, the physical terminus of the street or highway or any point on such <br />street or highway at which vehicular traffic thereon is required by regulatory <br />signs to stop or yield to traffic on the intersecting street. <br />(c) Stop signs need not be erected at intersections so con- <br />structed as to permit traffic to safely enter a through street or highway without <br />coming to a stop. Signs shall be erected at such intersections indicating that <br />the operator of a vehicle shall yield the right of way to or merge with all <br />traffic proceeding on the through street or highway. <br />(d) Council may designate additional through streets or <br />highways and shall erect stop signs in all streets and highways intersecting <br />such through streets or highways, or may designate any intersection as a stop <br />intersection and shall erect like signs at one or more entrances to such <br />intersection. <br />(e) Every stop sign shall bear the word "stop" in letters <br />not less than six inches in height. Every stop sign shall be located as near <br />as practicable at the property line of the street or highway at the entrance to <br />which the stop must be made, or at the nearest line of the crosswalk thereat, <br />or, if none, at the nearest line of the roadway. (ORC 4511.65) <br />Section 2: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be <br />an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public <br />peace, health, safety and welfare by virtue of the fact that Section 313.02 <br />prior to this amendment is in conflict with provisions of the State Statutes, <br />enacted by the 1965 State Legislature, WHEREFORE, this Ordinance shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage, otherwise, at <br />the earliest period allowed by law. <br />PASSED: - ~~ GS' <br />Francis J.
