~' , CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE N0. 65-241 By: Mr. Foltz AN ORDINANCE, TO BE EFF~"TIVE FEBRUARY 1, 1966, AUTHO#IIZING AND DIRECTIIiG THE COMPULSORY RETIREM~IT FOR ALL FULL TIME MEMBERS OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED POLICE DEPARTMENT ArjD FIRE DEPARTMENT UPON ATTAINING THE AGE OF SIRTY-FIVE (65) YEARS ~1FlEREAS, the Legislative Committee of Council has recommended to Council that all full time members of the Municipal Fire Department and Police Department be compelled to retire at age sixty-five (65); and WHEREAS, the Legislative Committee has recommended that all present full time members of the Police and Fire Departments be permitted to continue their employment past. age sixty-f ive (65) until completion of twenty-five (25) years of continuous service, Said continuous service shall be contingent upon the individual passing an annual physical exae~ina- tion given by a physician selected by the City of North Olmsted; and WHEREAS, Council is desirous of compulsory retirement of full time members of the Police and Fire Departments, effective February 1, 1966; and WHBREAS, it is Council's intent that the compulsory retirement upon attaining the age of sixty-five (65) not apply to School Guards and they are specifically excluded from the provisions of this Ordinance thereby permitting retired members of the Police and Fire Departments • among others to be hired as School Guards. NOW, THffitffi~"ORE, BE IT ORLIAINED by the Council of the City of North Olmsted, State of Ohio: Section 1: That et~ective FeBruary 1, 1966 no full time mea~ers of the City of North Olmsted Police Department or full time members of the City of North Olmsted Fire Department shall be employed or continue to serve as a member of the Police or Fire Department shall be employed ® or continue to serve as a member of the Police or Fire Departments after attaining the age of sixty-five (65), except School Guards and resent full time members of the Police and Fire Departments who shall be per- mitted to continue their employment peat age sixty-five (65) until completion of twenty-f ive (25) years of continuous service contingent upon the individual passing an annual physical examination given by a physician selected by the City of North Olmsted. Section 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby instructed to forward a copy of this Ordinance to each member of the North Olmsted Police Department and the North Olmsted Fire Department, except School Guards, and to each new member of the North Olmsted Police Department and North Olmsted Fire Department.
