<br />MINUTES OF A MEETING CF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br />NORTH 0LMSTED, OHIO,
<br />` Present were Dr. C. B. Lewis, Mayor, E. W. Baumgardner, President of Council,
<br />L. H. Baker, Harry M. Crider, R. L. necver, R. G. Knapp., William H. Kramer,,
<br />R. G. Neubauer, G. H. Schwenk.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Kramer and seconded by Mr. Crider that the minutes of
<br />APril 5., 1955 be approved as read. ."Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker.. Knapp, Kra:ner,
<br />Neubauer, Schwenk.

<br />Mr. Schwenk, Chairman of the Safety Co¢nmittee, stated that the Police.and Fire ?
<br />Departments had asked for an adjustment in wages and suggested that a special
<br />coinmittes meeting of council as a whole be held next Monday evening, Apri1 25th,
<br />The Mayor stated there would`be a caanbined meeting oY the Counci2 and the
<br />Planning Caanm3.ssion Tussday evening, April 26th, 9 P.M. at which Mr. Edw. H.
<br />? Scanlon, Arborist for Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. trouYd be present to
<br />give a taLt and show slides cn "Planning of Planting."
<br />Mr. Baker reported that the construction workers are parking their cars on the
<br />pavement on North Canterbury Road.. blocking the street and causing ruts in the
<br />berm on the oppositb side.
<br />Mr. Kna,pp reported that his comrnittee would report later on sidewa]ks froon Porter
<br />Road to the east city line. ;

<br />The Mayor stated he had received complaints on the ditch west of the Fairview line ?
<br />bac.k of West 229th Street. The Engineer was asked to check on the ditch and see !
<br />what ths possibilities are of tiling it. ;
<br />Mr. Baker called attention to the broken sidewPlk on the lot awned by Mr. Pohner '
<br />east of 23900 Lorain Road, The matter was referred to the Solicitor.
<br />Mr.,W. N. Hattois of 5924 Louis Drive ccmplained of having water 2" to k" deep,
<br />25 feet back frocn the road every ti.me it rains. The matter was referred to the
<br />Enginesr. The Engineer stated he was going to have the contractors P. DiGioia,
<br />clean up, where he installed the water line.
<br />Mr. Roberts of Clague ftoad, ob3ected to putting in 36" crock in the Rice Diteh,
<br />when there is 24" crock in the ditch just north' of his property. Ha was asrced to
<br />` put in a temporary bridge until we can get the drag line and clean the ditch.
<br />Mr. James Courtney of 5572 S. Porter Road caanpla.ined about the speeders and the
<br />noise of vehicles goin; down S. Porter ftoad. The Police Chief advised that two
<br />of the violators had been picked up, and that the Police Department wauld contirnte ,
<br />to check S. Porter ftoad.
<br />The Mayor statec3 that a Civil Defense meeting was going to be held in the City Hall ?
<br />? on Wednesday, April 20th. ?

<br />The Mayor read a cammunication fran the Cuyahoga County,Mayors Association, voicing ;
<br />their opposition to the foimula for the allocation of the undiv3ded,Local Government ;
<br />Funds as contained in H. B. 713.
<br />The Mayor stated ?that he had conferred with Mr. Endresof the State Highway Depart- i
<br />ment in regard to the improvement of Lorain Road., and was inforned that the esti- ;
<br />mated cost was $300,000.00, and that North Olmsted's share would be 50%. The Mayor
<br />aleo stated that the Higtnvay Department infozmed him that the resurfacing of
<br />Colwnbia ftoad south oF Lorain Road was out'of the picture, as all the Yunds had ;
<br />been used in resurfacing Columbia ftoad north of Lorain. ;
<br />The Mayor reported that it was necessary to run a new 21" gas l3ne from East Park ?
<br />Drive to the Coamnunity Club House and that the cost was estimated at approximately
<br />?
