<br />APRu 5, 1955. <br />MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />• NGRTH OIMSTEDS, OHIO <br />Present were Ar. C. B. Lewis, Mayor, T. W. Baumgardner, President of Council, Harry M. Crider, R. L. Decker, William H. Kramer, R. G. Neubauer, <br />L. H. Bakerp R9 G. Knapp and G. H. Schwenk were absent, - <br />A motion was made by Mr.`Kramer and seconded by Mr. Crider that the minutea oY <br />March 15, 1955 be'approved as read. "Yeas" Crider, Decker, Kramer, Neubauer. <br />The SaYety-5ervice Director advised that the Board of Control had awarded contracts <br />` as follows: <br />Clagne Caanfort Station to Carl U11rich Yor $7620.00 - <br />' Printing of the codification of the ordinances . <br />. of the City of North Olmsted to The <br />Lakeside Printing Carnpany _ 750 Capies $2265.00 <br />Street Resurtacing - - - - - - - - - - - -'- - - - 013,223.00 <br />Hannon & Nouzak ' <br />38,000 gals. Blader and Operator $9.00 hr. <br />Total - $?,143.00 <br />A caanmunication was received from the Planning Cammisaion atating that they had <br />received a petition, requesting that property on the north side of Lorain Road, <br />west of 5ilverdale be rezoned for retail business. This area includes approxi- <br />mately 2,000 teet af frontage. Sequest was turned down by the Planning Cocmis- <br />eion, as this would be apot zoning. , <br />The SaFety-Service Director made the Yollowing report on the Bus Line: <br />First Qua,rter 1954 Busses travelled 230,229 miles wi.th 20 accidents <br />u n 1955 n " 23ks313 9 " <br />The Service Director advised that he was looking into the condition of the ditches ' <br />on Stearns Road. <br />Mr. Platzer of 5710 Columbia ftoad camplafned abaut xater in his'basement, and asked <br />what could be done to enlarge the crock under Columbia Road which runs into Metro- Folitan Park. The matter was referred to the Safety-Service Direetor, <br />Mr. K. W. Pfisterer of 25027 Gessner Rd, asked that the road ditch be re-established <br />in Gessner Road. The matter was referred to the Safety-Service Director. <br />Mr. Neubauer called attention to the water on property owned by Steve Kadar located <br />on the southeast corner of Gessner and Walter Roads. The matter was referred to the Safety-5ervice Director. . <br />Mr. E. Kuekes of 6180 Colnmbia Road, suggested moving the bus stop at Cedar Po3nt <br />and Columbia Roada to a straight section of the road instead oP having it right on the curve. The matter was'referred to the Satety-Serrviice Director. He xas <br />also informed that modiYication of this curve was now tander study? <br />Mr. Harvey Levy and Mr. =.:Einar. Bar.chW- of the Recreation Ceamiasion appeared before <br />Council in regard to passing legislation to pennit a bond issue in'the amourit.of <br />$150.,000,00 to be put on the ballot at the Fa11 Election for a swinming pool. The <br />Recreation Commission was asked to meet with the Council next Monday night <br />(April llth) at 8=34 to discuss this matter. <br />The Ma.yor read a caanmunication i'rom The Cleveland Electric Illuminatirig Ccxapany <br />dated Mareh 29, 1955 xeserring to the fact that discount would be 3% instead of <br />6% on street lighting bills. He also read a letter iran the Board of Elections <br />calling attention to Primary Election to be held in our municipality on 1uesdags <br />MaY 3s 1955. The Mayor read a connnunication fran the Division of Safety and <br />Hygiene in connection with the 25th Anniversary of the All Ohio SaYetq Congress <br />and proclaimed the month of April, 1955 aa INDUSTRIAL SAFETY MQBILIZATION MONTH.
