<br />Present were Dr. C. B. Lewis, Mayor, E. SJ. Bau;ngardner, President of Council,
<br />L. H. Baker, Harry M. Crider, R. L. Decker, R. G. Kna,pp, William H. Kramer,
<br />Ralph G. Neubauer., G. H. Schwen:t. `
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Neubauer and seconded by Mr. Schwenk that the minutes of,
<br />September 24 1954 be approved as read. "Yeas" Baker., Crider., Decker, Knapp.,
<br />Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />A notion was made by Mr. Kramer an3 seconded by Mr. Crider that the minutes of
<br />September 23, 1954 be approved as read. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Knagp,
<br />Krarner, Neubauer, Schwenk.-:
<br />The Service Director advised that no bids had been received for the insta?lation
<br />of a water main on Wellesley Avenue.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Neubauer and seconded by Asr. Kramer that the Service
<br />Director be instructed to re-advertise for bids for a Vrater main on Wellesley Are.
<br />" Yeas" Baker., Crider., Decker, Knapp, Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenlt. The Service Director advised that one bid had been received for the Clague Road
<br />Corn.fort Station in the amount of $7420•O49 and that the Board of Control had de-
<br />cided not to accept the bid.
<br />A notion was made by Mr.Crider and-seconded by Pir. Kramer that the Service Direc-
<br />tor be instructec3 to re-advertise for bids on the Cla.gue Road Comfort Station.

<br />The Service Director stated that the Planning Connnission recommended to Counci2
<br />that both sides of Lorain Road from thQ eastern city 13mits to a distance 300
<br />feet east of Clague ftoad be rezoned from a multiplv residencs district to a re-
<br />taa.l business district. ? --
<br />A motion Vras made by Mr. Neubauer and seconded by Mr. Crider that the Solicitor
<br />prepare the necessary legislation to rezone both sides of Lorain Road from the
<br />eastern city limits to a distance 300 feet east of Clague Road from a multiple resi-
<br />dence district to a retail busi.ness district. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Dec'_;er,
<br />Knapp., Kramer., Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />Mr. Decker, Chairman of the Transportation Committee reported that ameeting was
<br />Planned with the drivers' committea.and the Auditor for next Thursday night.
<br />NIr. Schwenk reported that he hud a request that the traffic light•at.Columbia and
<br />Lorain Roads be moved four to six feet south. The matter was referred to the
<br />Safety Committee arul Police Department, Mr. Schwenk, Chairman of the Safety Committee, stated that the matter of purchas-
<br />ing radar equipanent was under consideration, and that they recomnnended the purchase
<br />Of a new police car - and sell the old one.
<br />The Servics Director reported that it would cost $92.00 a month to rent a police
<br />car, up to 30,000 miles and then 2¢ per mile additional thereafter; however, that
<br />theY are really not set up to rent police dars locally at the present time.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Schwenk and seconded by Mr. Decker that the Service
<br />birector be instructed to advertise for bids on a new'police car. "Yeas"

<br />°?r• Schwenk brought up the ma.tter of abolishing parking in front of the Bushnell-
<br />$uilding and the Service Director referred to the possibility of the traffic
<br />light at Mastick and ColLmbia Roads also controlling Kennedy Ridge traffic enter-
<br />ing Columbia Road. Both matters were referred to ths Safety Couuni.ttee.
<br />Mr. Knapp, reccsmended that a study be made of the necessity of sidewalks all over
<br />the city so action can be taken in;the Spring. The matter was refarred to the
<br />sidewalk Co¢nmittee.
<br />Mr. Crider read the health report for the month of August.
<br />The r-Iayor declared Saturday, October 23rd., UNITED STATES DAY.
