<br />MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE CQUNCIL OF THE'CITY OF
<br />NOftTH OIMSTED, OHIO
<br />Present were Dr, C. B. Lewis, Mayor, E. W. Baumgardner, President of Council,
<br />L. H. $aker, Harry M. Cridero R. L. Decker, R. G. Knapp, William H. Kramer,
<br />Ralph G..Neubauer, G. H. Schwenk. .
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Kramer and seconded by Mr. Crider that the minutes oi
<br />August 3s 1954 be approved as read. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Knapp.0 Kramer,
<br />Neubauer, Schwenk. .
<br />The Safety Service Director made the following roports
<br />(1) The Planning Commission reconBnended to Council for approval the re-subdivision
<br />of lots on Burns and Porter Aoads as follaws: `
<br />Orig,inal lots 307 through 312 to four 601 lots

<br />. No council action was necessary on the above sub-division.
<br />(2) In regard to the petition rsPerred to the Planning Comnission, asking that the
<br />area bounded by Columbias Lorain., Kennedy Ridge and Whitethorne xoads be rezoned
<br />for multiple dwellings, and the land fronting on the proposed Brookpark Road Ex-
<br />tsn?ion for reta3l busineas, the Planning Commission took the following action.
<br />Because of the present uncertainty concerning the building oY this road, a
<br />motion waa made and seconded that the petition be held for Purther study until
<br />after the present controversp is settled concerning whether Brookpark Road will
<br />be a limited accoss highway.
<br />(3) The Planning Comnission took the following action on a request from Council to
<br />studq the possibility of rezoning Lorain Road froa Barton ftoad to the county
<br />line for retail tyusiness. A motion was made and seconded that the City Engineer
<br />be requested to make,a study ot possible drainage in that area beSore the
<br />Planning Comnission makes any decision concerning the rezoning.
<br />(4) The Planning Commission recoimnends to Council that study be made of the possi-
<br />bility oY anne.-cing the land to the west of North Ol,msted in Ridgeville Trnwmship,
<br />bounded on the north by Chestnut Ridge Road and the west arui south by the rail-
<br />road - and in ttiddition,'all the area in Olmsted Township bounded on the north by
<br />the North 0].msted city line and on the south by the railroad.
<br />Mr. Decker, Chairaan of the Transportation Coaunittee reported that a meeting was
<br />scheduled for Friday evening, September lOth at the City Hall with the Bus Drivers'
<br />Committee.
<br />Mr. Schwenk, Chairman of the Safety Cammittees reported that the police and firemen
<br />had requested an adjustment in their wages; however., du e to the financial atatus of
<br />the city, it was necessary to turn them down. He reconarlended that the Police and
<br />Firemen be given six paid holidays.
<br />A motion waa made by Mr. Schwenk and seconded by Mr. Decker that the Law Director •
<br />draw up the necessary Ordinance to be preaented at the next meeting, giving the
<br />Police and Firemen six additional days in lieu of holidays. "Yeas" Bakers Crider.,,

<br />'rhe Sagety Cmmnittee also recanmended that the Law Director draw an Ordinance
<br />prohibiting trucks Yrora passing each other.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Schwenk e.nd seconded by Mr. Crider that the Law Director
<br />draw an ordinance prohibiting trucks Yrom passing each others to be presented at
<br />tho next meeting. "Yeas" Baker., Crider, Decker,, Knapp, Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />Mr• Schwenk reported that the Board 'of Truatees of Olmsted Township had aaked us
<br />to participate with then in the use of our radio broadcasting unit, in the,event theY iustalled radio equipdnent in their Police and Fire equipenents and that .the
<br />Sa.fety Committee felt we should cooperate, :
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Crider and seconded by Mr. Knapp that the Citq of Plorth
<br />fllmsted cooperate with Olmsted Township in the use of ovr radio broadcasting unit.
