<br />' MINUTES OF A NEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br />NORTH 0121STED, OHIO
<br />Present were Dr. C. B. Lewis, 24ayor, E. W. Bauingardner, President of Council,
<br />L. H. Ba,ker, Harry M. Crider, R. L. Decker, William H. Kramer, Bruce W. MacDonald,
<br />R. G.'Neubauer, G. H. Schwenk.
<br />Also present were F. G. Kitson, Solicitor, James F. Votava, Safety-Service Director,
<br />Everett Dean, Ehgineer, E. , M. Christman, Clerk.
<br />A motion was made by Yr. Neubauer and seconded by Mr. Baker that the minutes of
<br />Januarsr 15, _1957 be approved as read. "Yeas'l Baker, Crider, Decker,` Kramer., Mac-
<br />Donald, Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />The Safety-5ervice Director reported on the insurance bids taken on January 12, 1957.
<br />He stated that the Board of Control called in ttivo North Olmsted insurance men to go
<br />over the bids with them, and that the Board of Control recommended accepting the
<br />bid of The Kple Agency, Inc. (Hartford Accident & Indemnity Co.)
<br />Resolution #2435 was introduced by Mr. Balcer. A Resolution acceptino bid of Hartford
<br />Accident and Indemnity Co. It was moved and seconded that the statutor3r rule be
<br />suspended and the Resolution be read immediately the second and third times Gnd put
<br />on its passage. The affirmative vote on said motion was as follows: Baker, Crider,
<br />Decker, Kramer, Nia,cDona].d, Neubauer, Schwenko Thereupon the ftesolution was read the
<br />second and third times and put upon its passage and the affirr.ative vote,thereon was
<br />as follows: Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, 14acDonald, Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />The Safety-Service Director called attention to parking in the Lorain-Porter 3.nter-
<br />: section. He stated that perhaps the city shauld provide some parking facilities,
<br />but that parking on Lorain Road at that intersection should be eliminated. The
<br />; matter was referred to the Safety Committee for study and their recomnaendation.
<br />Mr. Kramer, Chairman of the Finance Committee stated that the comm3.ttee recommended
<br />acceptarice of the new tax rate. ,'
<br />Resolution #21a.36 was introduced by Mr. Kramer. A Resolution accepting the amounts
<br />and rates as deter•nined by the Budget Commi.ssion and authorizing the necessary tax
<br />levies and certifying them to the County Auditor. It was moved and seconded that
<br />the statutory rule be suspended and the Resolution be read iinmediately the second
<br />and third times and put on its passage. The affirmative vote on said motion was as
<br />fOllOWS: Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, MacDonald, Neubauer, Schwenk, Thereupon
<br />the Resolution was read the second and third times and put upon its passage and the
<br />affirrnative vote thereon was as follows: Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, MacDonald,
<br />Neubauer, Schwenk.
<br />14r• Neubauer inquired if it was compulsory for Bus Drivers to go to Drs, Castle,
<br />Hansay and Castle for their physical ex.aminations, and whether we had legislation
<br />covering this. The rgatter wa.s referred to the Solicitor.
<br />14r• Decker, Chairman of the Safety Committee stated that the Safety Committee
<br />recommended an ordinance requiring garages to report all damaged.rvehicles to the
<br />Police Department.
<br />A motion was made by Mr. Decker and seconded by Mr. Kramer that the Solicitor draw
<br />the above ordinance. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, MacDonald, Neubauer., -Schwerik.
<br />Mr• Decker reported that the budget for the Fire and Police DepartTents had been
<br />t'Irned over to the Finance Committee.
<br />The Safety-Service Director inquired if it would be possible to have two or four
<br />more additional firemen. Mr. Kramer., Chairman of the Finance Committee, stated
<br />that furids were not available at this time.
<br />? motion was made by Mr. Crider and seconded by Mr. MacDonald that the Utilities
<br />Comlittee have a survey made of the various streets to be lighted. "Yeas" Baker,

<br />Resolution #2ti.37 was introduced by Mr. Crider. A ftesolution requesting the State
<br />of Ohio to reconstruct Lorain Road, State Route #16, its entire length in the City
<br />of North Olxnsted, It was moved and seconded that the statutory rule be suspended
