CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2014 - 33 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SAFETY DIRECTOR ON BEHALF <br />OF THE CITY TO APPLY TO THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL'S <br />OFFICE FOR THE FY 2014-2015 DRUG USE PREVENTION PROGRAM <br />GRANT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PARTIALLY FUNDING THE SCHOOL <br />RESOURCE OFFICER; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />ENTER INTO ANA GREEMENT TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT FUNDS, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Attorney General's Office administers a Drug Prevention Program <br />which may provide partial funding assistance for the salary paid by the City of North Olmsted to <br />it's School Resource Officer (SRO) for drug use prevention and education programs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Safety Director to apply, on <br />behalf of the City, to the Ohio Attorney General for a Drug Use Prevention Grant to assist in <br />funding for the SRO and to provide drug abuse prevention and education programs. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Safety Director is hereby authorized to apply to the Ohio <br />Attorney General for a Drug Use Prevention Grant for FY 2014 -2015. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the Grant on <br />behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if required; and that the Mayor be, <br />and he hereby is, authorized to execute all other documents necessary to effectuate receipt of the <br />Grant. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately because of Grant <br />deadlines; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of two- thirds of all members <br />of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />/ PASSED: i I `r : ' A'/ ' j <br />First Reading: <br />Second Reading: <br />Third Reading: <br />Committee: <br />
