CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2014 — 54 <br />BY: Mayor Kennedy, President Jones and all Members of Council <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE <br />DONATION OF A LUCAS CHEST COMPRESSION SYSTEM FROM <br />UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS FOR USE IN THE DIVISION OF FIRE, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the LUCAS Chest Compression System is a vital tool in the administration <br />of advanced life support by paramedics in the field; and <br />WHEREAS, the LUCAS Chest Compression System will standardize patient chest <br />compressions, reduce paramedic fatigue and allow care givers to focus on other life - saving tasks, <br />thereby creating other rescue opportunities; and <br />WHEREAS, University Hospitals has generously offered to donate a LUCAS Chest <br />Compression System to the City of North Olmsted, Division of Fire; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor requests that Council recognize and accept this generous <br />donation, pursuant to Section 131.06 of the Administrative Code, and join in his expression of <br />gratitude on behalf of the City and the entire community; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to authorize the Mayor to accept the donation of the <br />LUCAS Chest Compression System by University Hospitals, with the sincerest appreciation of <br />Council. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THIS CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO. <br />SECTION 1: That the City of North Olmsted authorizes the Mayor to accept the <br />donation of a LUCAS Chest Compression System by University Hospitals and further authorizes <br />the Mayor to execute any documents required for this donation. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and <br />further for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately in <br />order to accept and utilize this state -of -the -art lifesaving equipment; and provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two - thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in <br />force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED.- � 1 <br />A TT EST: <br />First Reading.
