REQUEST FOR BIDS: REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF ROOFING SYSTEM ON THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED WWTP BUILDING 2- CHEMICAL STORAGE BUILDING <br />The intent of this Request for Bids is to establish a contract in accordance with ordinance section ? ? ?, <br />with an experienced, qualified roofer for the purpose of repairing and replacing the roofing system on <br />NOWWTP building #2: Chemical Storage. <br />SCOPE OF WORK <br />A. Existing Roof: <br />The city of North Olmsted operates a wastewater treatment plant at 23775 Mastick Road, North <br />Olmsted Ohio under the OEPA ( Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's) NPDES (National Pollution <br />Discharge Elimination System). There is currently a construction project in the mid - stages of <br />completion, which has included the construction of several new buildings as well as modifications to <br />existing structures. Building #2: Chemical Storage is an existing structure that has been modified in its <br />interior, for a new purpose. The roof is the original roof from construction in ? ? ? ?. The existing roof <br />consists of a concrete deck, expanded polystyrene, wood fiber board, and a black rubber EPDM roofing <br />material that has been coated. Core samples have been taken and show extensive moisture has <br />penetrated the EPDM roof layer. <br />Work to Be Completed: <br />i. Remove and properly dispose of existing coping metal, EPDM roofing material, wood fiber <br />board, and expanded polystyrene down to concrete deck. <br />ii. Prepare surface and install new roofing surface in accordance with attached specifications. <br />iii. Recondition four existing drains. <br />iv. Install flashings around all deck penetrations. <br />V. Encapsulate parapet walls. <br />vi. Install walk pad at upper roof ladder access point. <br />vii. Install breather vents. <br />viii. Dispose of all trash and job related debris in accordance with federal, state, and local <br />regulations. <br />ix. Provide a 20 year warranty. <br />COMPLIANCE WITH LAWS <br />The Contractor shall conduct operations under his contract in compliance with all applicable Federal, <br />State and Local laws; provided, however, that the general specifications shall govern the obligations of <br />the Contractor where there exist conflicting ordinances of the City on the subject. <br />COMPETENCY OF BIDDER <br />The opening and reading of the Bid Proposal shall not be construed as an acceptance of the bidder as a <br />qualified, responsible bidder. The City reserves the right to determine the competence and <br />responsibility of a bidder from its knowledge of the bidder's qualifications or from other sources. <br />NOWWTP 2014 BUILDING 2 ROOF BID SPECIFICATIONS <br />
