CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2014 — 79 <br />BY: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION A UTHORIZING THE MA FOR TO REQUEST PROPOSALS FROM <br />PROFESSIONALS QUALIFIED TO CONDUCT FAIR HOUSING TESTING <br />SERVICES TO DETERMINE IF HOUSING PROVIDERS AND PROFESSIONALS <br />ARE COMPLYING WITH THE FAIR HOUSING LAWS OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND, <br />FOLLOWING SELECTION BY THE BOARD OF CONTROL, AUTHORIZING <br />THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SAID SERVICES, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, over the last seven (7) years, the City of North Olmsted has conducted a variety <br />of fair housing activities in an effort to build awareness of housing discrimination; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted desires to monitor the activities of housing providers and <br />professionals to see if they are complying with local and federal laws; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted further desires to obtain proposals from fair <br />housing consultants to conduct tests of the housing market, providers and professionals to <br />determine compliance; and <br />WHEREAS, the cost of such services shall not exceed $45,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to request and solicit <br />proposals for such professional services and to further authorize the Mayor, upon approval of the Board <br />of Control, to enter into an agreement or agreements for said professional services. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to request proposals from <br />consultants to conduct tests of the housing market, providers and professionals to determine <br />compliance with local and federal laws and, upon approval by the Board of Control, that the Mayor is <br />hereby authorized to enter into an agreement or agreements for said professional services. <br />SECTION 2: <br />That this Resolution is hereby declared <br />to be <br />an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary <br />for the preservation of the public health, <br />safety <br />and welfare and for the <br />further reason that it <br />is necessary that this Resolution go into <br />effect <br />immediately to forthwith <br />advance the objectives of the Fair Housing Laws of the State of <br />Ohio <br />and the United States of <br />America; and further <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote <br />of two - thirds of all members of <br />Council, it shall take <br />effect and be in force immediately upon <br />its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />
