CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2014 — 84 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />ON BEHALF OF THE CITY TO APPL Y FOR AN ASSISTANCE TO <br />FIREFIGHTERS GRANT FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING FUNDS <br />TOACQUIREA REPLACEMENT FIRE APPARATUS (TRUCK); FURTHER <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, IF THE APPLICATION IS GRANTED, TO <br />ENTER INTO ANA GREEMENT WITH THE APPROPRIATE AGENCY TO <br />ACCEPT SAID GRANT FUNDS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security has invited application for the <br />Assistance to Firefighters Grants ( "AFG ") Program; and <br />WHEREAS, by and through grant funds, the North Olmsted Division of Fire desires to <br />purchase a replacement firefighting apparatus (truck); and <br />WHEREAS, AFG grant awards aim to enhance response capabilities and to more <br />effectively protect the health and safety of the public with respect to fire and other hazards. The <br />grants enable local fire departments and emergency medical services organizations to obtain <br />training, conduct first responder health and safety programs, and buy equipment and response <br />vehicles; and <br />WHEREAS, a 10% matching fiend on the part of the City will be required; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Safety on <br />behalf of the City to apply for the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters <br />Grant to purchase the needed replacement truck, to further authorize the Mayor to accept the <br />Grant, if awarded, and to execute a contract if required; and to authorize the Director of Public <br />Safety / Mayor to execute all other documents necessary to effectuate receipt of the Grant <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Safety be and is hereby authorized to apply for <br />the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the Grant, if <br />awarded, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if required; and that <br />the Director of Public Safety be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute all other documents <br />necessary to effectuate receipt of the Grant. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />
