Commission stated that,by a 7 to 0 vote, a motion to recommend approval of the proposal passed; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has adopted this Ordinance, as required by state law, no sooner <br /> than 120 days, and no later than 60 days,prior to the date of the election at which the issue will be <br /> voted upon by the electorate. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, OHIO, TWO-THIRDS OF ALL MEMBERS <br /> CONCURRING THAT: <br /> SECTION 1. Pursuant to Article XVIII,Sections 9 of the Ohio Constitution,and Article XII <br /> of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted, this Council authorizes and directs that the following <br /> proposal to amend the Charter of the City of North Olmsted be submitted to the electors of the City <br /> of North Olmsted at an election to be held at the usual places of voting in the City on Tuesday, <br /> November 3, 2015: <br /> That Article VII, Section 3 of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted be amended to abolish the <br /> Parks and Recreation Commission. It presently reads as follows: <br /> SEC. 3. PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION. <br /> The Parks and Recreation Commission shall consist of six (6) members who shall serve without <br /> compensation. The Mayor, subject to confirmation by Council, shall appoint two (2) members <br /> who are qualified electors and residents of North Olmsted and who do not hold any other elected <br /> or appointed public office and are not employees of the City. Council shall appoint one (1) <br /> member who shall be a member of Council and one (1)member who shall be a qualified elector <br /> and resident of North Olmsted and who does not hold any other elected or appointed public <br /> office and is not an employee of the City. <br /> The North Olmsted City School District Board of Education shall appoint one (1) member who <br /> shall be a member of such Board of Education and one (1) member who shall be a qualified <br /> elector and resident of North Olmsted and who does not hold any other elected or appointed <br /> public office and is not an employee of the School District. Each of the appointed members of <br /> said Commission shall be appointed for a term of five (5)years, except that of the six (6) <br /> members appointed for the term beginning January 1, 1971, the City Council shall appoint one <br /> (1)member for a term of one (1)year and one (1) member for a term of four(4) years,the Board <br /> of Education shall appoint one (1) member for a term of two (2) years and one (1) member for a <br /> term of five (5)years. In the event that a Board of Education member or Council member, who <br /> has been appointed to the Parks and Recreation Commission, ceases to be a member of the Board <br /> of Education or Council for any reason, then such appointee's membership on the Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission shall terminate forthwith. A vacancy occurring during the term of any <br /> member of the Parks and Recreation Commission shall be filled for the remainder of the <br /> 2 <br />
