Springvale Golf Course& Ballroom The City of North Olmsted GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE CONSULTING PROPOSAL Mayor Kennedy, Kevin thanks for taking the time to meet with me and discuss Springvale and the current situation regarding Phil Bova's departure. As I mentioned to you yesterday, Springvale is very personal to me and I would like to see the facility continue to flourish and do well.Since my departure last year I have visited many facilities in the Midwestern States and can tell you that the revenue numbers being generated at Springvale are far and away much better than most, if not all,facilities that I have visited. This is a testament to the decisions that were made over the past several years, many of these decisions have occurred under your watch. You and I shared the same vision for the facility and we can look back now knowing that those decisions were in the best interest of both Springvale and the City of North Olmsted. As we discussed yesterday, we are now entering the critical period of the season where a large percentage of your revenue is generated, but at the same time, a period of high stress and changing weather conditions that can have an adverse effect on the golf course. Phil's departure is, unfortunately, at the worst time of the year. Course conditions can change overnight if not monitored and watch closely. The position of Golf Course Superintendent is typically the most important individual of the facility, but also the least appreciated, at times. The City and you want to be sure that you put the right person in charge of maintaining the course. What I would propose is that you advertise the position, interview candidates and have the position filled during the off-season to ensure that you get the best candidate possible to assume the Superintendents position. With that said, I would propose that myself and Davey Golf, a Division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, be retained to assist in getting Springvale through these next several months and allow you amble time to find the ideal candidate to fill the position. We have Golf Course Superintendents in the area that would assist and ensure that the course is properly maintained during this period. Maintaining a golf course is more than mowing grass, raking bunkers and changing pin positions. Agronomic decisions are made on a daily basis that ensure that course conditions remain as desired. We would assist in making these daily decisions and provide yourself and the city peace of mind knowing that the course is being closely managed by DAVEY . Golfs
