CCBH 2015 SEMI-ANNUAL REPORT City of North Olmsted Page 12 <br /> WATERSHED PROGRAM <br /> The CCBH's watershed programs protect public health and our water quality <br /> resources from the impacts of point source ands non-point source pollution. These <br /> programs emphasize the utilization of watershed-based planning within CCBH, as <br /> well as collaborative efforts with partnering agencies. The watershed protection <br /> programs include a variety of activities that assist our communities and our <br /> collaborative partners, including water quality programs, educational outreach, and <br /> public involvement programs. The CCBH is also involved in a number of watershed <br /> activities including the preparation of watershed action plans for various watersheds <br /> within our jurisdiction, and a number of watershed grants including US EPA Section <br /> 319 grants, Ohio Lake Erie Commission Grants, ODNR Coastal Management <br /> Assistance Grants, and the Ohio Environmental Education Fund Grants. <br /> Program.Inquiries.and Respanses.(in hours)* 10 <br /> SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT <br /> The Solid Waste Program inspects solid waste facilities to assure compliance with <br /> 3745-27 of the Ohio Administrative Code. These facilities include landfills, transfer <br /> stations, construction/demolition disposal sites, infectious waste treatment facilities, <br /> compost facilities, construction and demolition debris facilities, scrap tires, open <br /> dumping, and industrial/hazardous waste monitoring. <br /> Program.1nquiries.and Respanses.(in hours)* 1 <br /> RECREATIONAL FACILITIES <br /> The program responsibilities include comprehensive inspections and monitoring of <br /> public swimming pools and spas, and public and private bathing beaches. Frequent <br /> water sample analysis is conducted at bathing beaches from Memorial Day through <br /> Labor Day for the determination of bacterial levels and potential public health risks. <br /> In addition, near-real-time, same-day, water quality data is being obtained through <br /> innovative technology known as the Nowcast system for predicting beach advisories <br /> at Huntington Beach in Bay Village.
