CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2016 — 44 <br />BY: Mayor Kennedy & Council Member Hemann <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND PROCLAIMING "EARTH <br />DAY" BY HOSTING THE FIRST "EARTH FAIR" CELEBRATION <br />AT THE COMMUNITY CABIN ON APRIL 24, 2016, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, a healthy environment through recycling, waste reduction, and <br />thoughtful use of resources is the foundation of a good society and is critical to the future <br />of North Olmsted and the world at large; and <br />WHEREAS, North Olmsted can help to preserve environmental integrity and can <br />help build a healthier society by addressing issues such as energy usage and waste <br />prevention; and <br />WHEREAS, North Olmsted is a part of the Western Reserve region that prides <br />itself on the beauty of its landscape as well as its cultural and historical significance; and <br />WHEREAS, North Olmsted can help promote positive public land management <br />protecting its resources for the future enjoyment of its citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, Earth Day offers citizens and governments alike an opportunity to <br />work toward building a healthier and cleaner environment; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted will recognize and celebrate the 50th <br />anniversary of Earth Day (official date April 22, 2016) by hosting its first Earth Fair <br />event on Sunday, April 24th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Community <br />Cabin. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: This Council hereby recognizes and celebrates the 50th <br />Anniversary of "Earth Day" worldwide (official date April 22, 2016) by designating and <br />hosting the City of North Olmsted's first "Earth Fair" on Sunday April 24, 2016, from <br />1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Community Cabin, 28114 Lorain Road. <br />SECTION 2: This Council, together with the Administration, supports and <br />promotes the preservation and conservation of natural resources, responsible trash <br />disposal and recycling programs and every reasonable effort to protect the environment in <br />recognition of "Earth Day" and therefore encourages our residents and the entire <br />community to join us for the "Earth Fair" to educate and celebrate. <br />
