CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2016 — 41 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC <br />SERVICE TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE AWARD OF A <br />CONTRACT TO PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES FOR THE <br />POLICE STATION HVAC REPLACEMENT PROJECT, AS <br />DETAILED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE WITH THE CITY <br />ENGINEER, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, FOLLOWING <br />APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF CONTROL, TO CONTRACT FOR <br />THE SAME WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER. <br />WHEREAS, the existing Carrier rooftop units at the Police Station were installed in 2000 <br />and were direct replacements of the original rooftop multi -zone units installed in 1976; and <br />WHEREAS, rooftop multi -zone technology has been surpassed in recent years, therefore <br />making the existing units obsolete and difficult to find replacement parts for maintenance; and <br />WHEREAS, the existing Police Station HVAC system results in complaints from <br />occupants of an uncomfortable environment including high humidity and inconsistent and <br />uneven temperatures; and <br />WHEREAS, replacement of the HVAC system was determined by an HVAC System <br />Assessment report prepared in October 2015; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Service to <br />advertise for bids for award of a contract to provide construction services for the Police Station <br />HVAC project and to further authorize the Mayor to enter into a contract with the lowest and best <br />bidder, after Board of Control approval. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service be and he is hereby authorized to <br />advertise for bids for award of a contract to provide construction services for the Police Station <br />HVAC project in accordance with the bid specifications now on file, and further, that upon <br />approval by the Board of Control, the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to enter into a contract <br />and execute the same on behalf of the City of North Olmsted with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the <br />earliest period allowed by law upon its passage and approval by the Mayor <br />
