CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2016 — 84 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SAFETY DIRECTOR ON BEHALF <br />OF THE CITY TO APPLY TO THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL'S <br />OFFICE FOR THE FY 2016-2017 DRUG USE PREVENTION PROGRAM <br />GRANT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PARTIALLY FUNDING THE SCHOOL <br />RESOURCE OFFICER; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />ENTER INTO AGREEMENT TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT FUNDS, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Attorney General's Office administers a Drug Prevention Program <br />which may provide partial funding assistance for the salary paid by the City of North Olmsted to <br />it's School Resource Officer (SRO) for drug use prevention and education programs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Safety Director to apply, on <br />behalf of the City, to the Ohio Attorney General for a Drug Use Prevention Grant ($26,761.80) <br />to assist in funding for the SRO and to provide drug abuse prevention and education programs. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Safety Director is hereby authorized to apply to the Ohio <br />Attorney General for a Drug Use Prevention Grant for FY 2016-2017. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the Grant on <br />behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if required; and that the Mayor be, <br />and he hereby is, authorized to execute all other documents necessary to effectuate receipt of the <br />Grant. The Mayor is further authorized to apply for this grant in future fiscal years, without <br />additional legislative action. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately because of Grant <br />deadlines (September 15, 2016); and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of two- <br />thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage <br />and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED:�� <br />First Reading: WL!%i(.- <br />Second Reading: �f' ' :tztv:All <br />Third Reading: , l i/ <br />Committee: A�al�Ftl <br />
