MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />DECEMBER 6, 2016 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Kearney, <br />Limpert, Schumann & Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Safety & Service <br />Glauner, Director of Planning & Development Wenger, and Clerk of <br />Council Massarolo <br />Absent: Director of Finance Copfer and Human Resources Director Gallo <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The Council meeting minutes of November 15, 2016 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: Second Reading — Ordinance 2016-127 and Ordinance 2016-128. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• Thanked the Arts Commission volunteers along with the Senior Center, Park and <br />Recreation, Service Department and Planning Department staffs that made the <br />2016 North Olmsted Noel a success and fun filled event for all the kids there. <br />• Introduced Carl Schantz to present a check to a representative from the Muscular <br />Dystrophy Association. Mr. Schantz stated the Fire Department has put on a car <br />show to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association for the past 29 years and this <br />year they donated more money than ever from this event. One hundred percent of <br />the proceeds always goes to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The event was <br />attended by about four to five thousand people and had over 600 cars show up. He <br />presented a check for $12,030.00. He also gave the Mayor letters of recognition to <br />send out to those who helped put on the event. The representative from the <br />Muscular Dystrophy Association thanked everyone who helped organize the car <br />show. She said the money would stay in the local area and help people that suffer <br />from 43 diseases the association covers. The money will help with expenses for <br />Care Centers, Support Groups and a Summer Camp in Strongsville for kids aged <br />six to 17. <br />• The Mayor recognized Madeline Brookshire as she is retiring from her role as the <br />Food Pantry Volunteer Coordinator. He read a proclamation from the City (text is <br />attached to the minutes) and presented it to her. After he finished, Ms. Brookshire <br />said this was wonderful and she did not expect it.
