WHEREAS: Madeline Brookshire raised her family with her husband Robert in North Olmsted. She
has been an active member of the community for decades involved with groups and
organizations around town. She was a contributor to the WestLife and has followed
North Olmsted politics for years and supported many City officials with her input,
experience and knowledge; and
WHEREAS: Madeline dedicated her lifelong career to the County Public Library as the Director of
Marketing for 30 years before retiring. Her marketing and public relation skills were a
perfect fit for her professional volunteer endeavors after her retirement and we were
so grateful she chose the Oxcart Pantry to continue her good works; and
WHEREAS: Madeline joined the staff of the Division of Youth & Family Services volunteering after
her retirement and promptly put her skills to work at the Oxcart Pantry. Since 2010,
Madeline has coordinated the volunteers at the pantry growing the crew of able
hands from 4 to nearly 45 over that time. She has organized volunteer schedules,
completed orientation and has otherwise guided, sometimes guilted and successfully
groomed our volunteers to serve the programs of the pantry. Not only did she
coordinate the volunteers, but she worked right alongside them; and
WHEREAS: Madeline has coordinated volunteers who distributed over 100,000 pounds of
produce in the past 4 summers. She has packed bags, distributed directly to clients
and sorted and shelved countless cans and boxes of food over the years. She has
helped our pantry to grow to serving over 150 families each month and has done it all
while greeting every volunteer and client with her beautiful smile. Her knowledge
and grace have blessed our pantry and all of those we serve. We could not ask more
of our "Volunteer Volunteer Coordinator"!
NOW, THEREFORE I, Kevin M. Kennedy, Mayor of the City of North Olmsted, on behalf of our
community, do hereby recognize with honor Madeline Brookshire and commend her on her outstanding
achievements and dedicated service to the City of North Olmsted.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and cause the Seal of the City of North Olmsted to
be affixed this Sixth day of December, 2016.
Mayor Kevin M. Kennedy
