CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2016 -142 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO PURCHASE FOR <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT USE THREE (3) NEW FORD UTILITY POLICE <br />INTERCEPTORS AND RELATED EQUIPMENT, ALL THROUGH THE <br />STATE PURCHASE PROGRAM; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUA TE SUCH PURCHASE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the North Olmsted Police Department needs to replace three (3) of its police <br />cruisers due to their age and condition, upon the recommendation of the fleet manager, and <br />propose to purchase three (3) new Ford Utility Interceptors for an estimated cost of Eighty -Seven <br />Thousand Three Hundred and Sixty Dollars ($87,360.00), paid for from the Hotel Motel Fund for <br />safety equipment; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to purchase three (3) <br />new Ford Utility Interceptor vehicles, together with related police equipment, through the State <br />purchase program, as a permitted exception to the competitive bidding procedure that otherwise <br />would be required for such expenditures, and to further authorize the Mayor to execute any <br />documents required for such expenditure, including, subject to approval of the Board of Control, <br />if necessary, a contract with the lowest and best vendor selected among State qualified vendors. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to purchase through the <br />State Purchasing Program, which was established by R.C. Section 125.04, and which the City is <br />authorized to participate in pursuant to the City Charter and Resolution No. 87-6, three (3) new <br />Ford Utility Interceptor vehicles, and related police equipment for these vehicles, all of which is <br />described in the specifications on file in the Police Department. If necessary to effectuate any <br />such purchase through the State Purchasing Program, the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute <br />any contract and/or other necessary documents required by the authorized vendor(s), the State of <br />Ohio, or the Charter. Any contract executed by the Mayor shall be in a form and substance <br />consistent with the provisions of this Resolution and approved by the Director of Law. <br />SECTION 2: That the purchase of and financing for said vehicles shall be through the <br />Hotel Motel Fund. <br />
