MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JANUARY 17, 2017 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Hemann, <br />Kearney, Limpert, Schumann & Williamson <br />Also Present: Director of Finance Copfer, Human Resources Director Gallo, Law <br />Director Gareau, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Clerk of Council <br />Massarolo, and Director of Planning & Development Wenger <br />Absent: Mayor Kennedy <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Pack #204 and Council in the recitation of <br />the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />The Council meeting minutes of January 3, 2017 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: First Reading — Resolution 2017-11. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Brossard to nominate Councilman Paul Schumann as <br />Council President Pro -tem for the year 2017. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Barker and passed unanimously. Councilman Schumann appointed as Council President <br />Pro -tem for 2017. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• No Report. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />Last week I attended a meeting with the Division of Fire and Division of Police, <br />including the Safety Director along with the Chiefs of Police and Fire concerning <br />HIPPA regulations. Lieutenant Dan Coyle took it upon himself to do some <br />additional training and bring that training back and apply it. I want to publically <br />compliment Lieutenant Coyle for the exceptional job he did. He really took the <br />issue and ran with it. It's a great positive step for the Division of Fire and the <br />Division of Police as well. He provided a great presentation and he has materials <br />if anyone else would be interested in seeing what he presented. <br />On Friday, I spent the afternoon at the Court of Common Pleas in mediation <br />regarding the matter of Jennifer Hayner, our former police officer. She had filed a <br />Worker's Compensation claim regarding a concussion injury she received on the <br />job. There is an additional claim in the works for post traumatic distress. The City <br />was not able to reach a settlement. There was a wide gap between what the City <br />
