CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012 - 83 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE COUNTYWIDE ALL NATURAL HAZARDS <br />MITIGATION PLAN FOR CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AS ADOPTED BY THE <br />CUYAHOGA COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT IN 2011, AS <br />THE MITIGATION PLAN FOR THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, hazard mitigation is any sustainable action taken to reduce or eliminate <br />damage from future disaster; and <br />WHEREAS, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all communities that desire to <br />apply for federal mitigation programs to have an all -natural hazard mitigation plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 also requires communities to review <br />and revise the plan at least every live (5) years to reflect changes in development, progress in <br />local mitigation efforts, and changcs in priorities, in order to continue eligibility to apply for <br />federal mitigation programs; and <br />WHEREAS, the all—natural hazard mitigation plan must meet the criteria established by <br />the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); and <br />WHEREAS, for disasters that are declared after November 1, 2004, that the local <br />government must have an approved mitigation plan; and <br />WHEREAS, in collaboration with participating jurisdictions, the Cuyahoga County <br />Government, through the Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management has developed <br />and maintains such a mitigation plan which is entitled the "Countywide All Natural Hazards <br />Mitigation Plan for Cuyahoga County, 2011" a copy of which is available at <br />http://ia.cuyaliop-acounty.us/pdf ia/en-US/Publications/Cuyahoga-County-Mitipation-Plan.t)d_; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in order to meet the requirements of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, <br />there must be documentation that the mitigation plan has been formally adopted by the governing <br />body of the jurisdiction covered by the plan; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, upon the recommendation of the Directors of <br />I,aw and Safety, and upon review and consideration of the "Countywide All Natural Hazards <br />Mitigation Plan for Cuyahoga County, 2011," to adopt said mitigation plan for the City of North <br />Olmsted; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE, CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND S7ATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the City of North Olmsted, Ohio, does hereby adopt the "Countywide <br />All Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan for Cuyahoga County, 2011," as said plan was developed by <br />
