CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2017 - 79 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO PURCHASE <br />REPLACEMENT PARTS FROM PELTON ENVIRONMENTAL <br />PRODUCTS, ATA COST OF $58,113.61, FOR THE CENTRIFUGE AT <br />THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Wastewater Superintendent, under direction of the Director of Public <br />Service, recommends that the City purchase replacement parts of the Alva Laval Centrifuge at <br />the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) or, alternatively, to purchase a new centrifuge; and <br />WHEREAS, the replacement parts, specifically a planetary drive and air -oil unit, would <br />serve as a necessary back-up for the existing centrifuge, vital to the WWTP operations, and can <br />be purchased at a cost of $58,133.61 from Pelton Environmental Products Inc. as the sole source <br />provider as the original manufacturer of such specialized equipment, and the funds necessary are <br />available within the 2017 budget without additional appropriation; and <br />WHEREAS, it is desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to purchase said <br />equipment through a contract with Pelton Environmental Products, Inc., for the quoted purchase <br />price of $58,133.61, as a sole source provider of such precise equipment. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to purchase from Pelton <br />Environmental Products, Inc., specific planetary and oil -air units designed for use as parts, and <br />necessary safety materials for the replacement / repair of the Centrifuge at the WWTP, for the <br />purchase price of $58,133.61. If necessary to effectuate such purchase, the Mayor is hereby <br />authorized to execute any contract and/or other necessary documents required by Pelton <br />Environmental Products, Inc. Any contract executed by the Mayor shall be in a form and substance <br />consistent with the provisions of this Resolution and be approved by the Director of Law. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately so that said replacement <br />parts can be ordered and are available for use immediately, purchased with funds available in the <br />2017 budget, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of <br />Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />
