CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2017 - 87 <br />BY: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION TO SOLICIT RFP'S FOR REDUNDANT FIBER <br />LINES FOR THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN <br />CONJUCTION WITH THE CALL PROCESSING / VOICE MAIL <br />SYSTEM PROJECT AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES TO SOLICIT PROPOSALS <br />FOR THE POLICE AND FIRE PORTION OF THE PROJECT AND, <br />SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF CONTROL, <br />ADDITIONALL Y A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT FOR SUCH FIBER LINES, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted has an aging telephone system and is <br />exploring an upgrade to its communications systems to include, potentially, voice over <br />internet protocol (VOIP), and the new system will require redundant fiber lines for both <br />the Police and Fire Departments; and <br />WHEREAS, the aging system is inefficient and past its life expectancy; and <br />WHEREAS, Director of Human Resources Marie Gallo, with Council <br />authorization, obtained the services of a consultant to provide needed expertise in the <br />replacement process; and <br />WHEREAS, upon the recommendation of said consultant, the City is in need of a <br />Call Processing / Voice Mail System and the Police and Fire Departments are in need of <br />redundant fiber lines as a result of the new system; and <br />WHEREAS, Mayor Kennedy and Director Gallo recommend that this Council <br />authorize Director Gallo to proceed with the RFP process in order to obtain the redundant <br />fiber lines that are necessary to the Police and Fire Departments in order to fit their <br />respective telecommunications needs. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the Director of Human Resources be and she is hereby <br />authorized to solicit or request proposals for the redundant fiber lines for the Police and <br />Fire Departments as part of the Call Processing / Voice Mail System project, in <br />accordance with the specifications now on file in her office and that, upon approval by <br />the Board of Control, that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement for <br />
