CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2017 - 85 <br />BY: Councilmember Limpert <br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 537.16 "PERMITTING <br />MINORS TO PLAY BILLIARDS OR POOL" OF CHAPTER 537 OF <br />THE NORTH OLMSTED CODIFIED ORDINANCES ENTITLED <br />"OFFENSES AGAINST PERSONS. " <br />WHEREAS, in 2016, this Council eliminated Chapter 751 of the Codified <br />Ordinances entitled "Game Rooms," because it was determined that regulations were <br />antiquated in relation to modern business practices and no longer necessary to protect the <br />health, safety and general welfare of North Olmsted residents; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of Council that regulations concerning minors <br />playing billiards are similarly antiquated and this Council desires to eliminate such <br />prohibitions and regulations. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OFNORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 537.16 of the North Olmsted Codified Ordinances is <br />hereby repealed. It presently reads as follows: <br />537.16 PERMITTING MINORS TO PLAY BILLIARDS OR POOL. <br />(a) No owner or keeper of a billiard parlor or owner or keeper of a billiard table at any <br />other public place shall permit a minor under the age of eighteen years to play billiards or <br />pool, or be and remain in such parlor or public place. Provided, a minor under eighteen <br />years of age, when accompanied by either parent or his legal guardian, may be permitted <br />to play both billiards and pool, and be or remain in such parlor or public place. And <br />provided further, that an adult person, who is in charge of a group of minor children <br />under the age of eighteen years, may bring such group into a billiard or pool parlor for the <br />purpose of permitting them to play both billiards and pool, and such group may be <br />permitted to play both billiards and pool or be in and remain in such a parlor or public <br />place so long as they remain under the supervision and control of such adult person. <br />(Ord. 65-308. Passed 12-21-65.) <br />(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. <br />
