CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2018 - 4 <br />BY: Council Member Hemann <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 505.15 ENTITLED "KEEPING, <br />MAINTAINING AND FEEDING OF WILD ANIMALS" OF CHAPTER <br />FIVE OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED IN ORDER TO INCLUDE GEESE, DUCKS AND WATERFOWL, <br />IN THE DEFINITION OF WILD ANIMALS, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted currently prohibits the feeding of a number of <br />different wild animal species in the City due to the nuisance conditions that arise therefrom; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 505.15 does not specifically identify "ducks, geese and waterfowl" <br />as wild animals; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to include within the prohibitions of Section <br />505.15, geese, ducks and waterfowl within the prohibitions of Section 505.15 of the General <br />Offenses Code. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 505.15 "Keeping, Maintaining and Feeding of Wild <br />Animals" which presently reads in its entirety as set forth herein shall be amended and, as <br />amended, shall read in its entirety, with such amendments denoted by boldface as follows: <br />505.15 "Keeping, Maintaining and Feeding of Wild Animals" <br />(a) Definition "Wild Animal". Any living wild or potentially dangerous mammal, reptile, <br />fowl, or other animal species which is not naturally tame or gentle, but is of a wild nature or <br />disposition and not customarily domesticated. A wild animal shall include, but not be limited to: <br />(1) All poisonous snakes and constricting snakes exceeding six feet. <br />(2) Bears (Ursidae). <br />(3) Cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus). <br />(4) Coyotes and coyotes -dog hybrids (Canids). <br />(5) Hyenas (Hyaenides). <br />(6) Jaguars (Panthera onea). <br />(7) Leopards (Panthera pardus). <br />(8) Lions (Panethera leo). <br />(9) Lynxes (lynx). <br />(10) Pumas, also known as cougars, mountain lions and panthers (Felis <br />concolor). <br />(11) Primates (non -human), apes, monkeys, baboons, chimpanzees, gibbons, <br />gorillas, orangutans, siamangs. <br />(12) Tigers (Panthera tigris). <br />(13) Wild cats, ocelot, margay, servral, leopard cat. <br />
