CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2018 - 34 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION DISPENSING WITH THE REQUEST FOR <br />PROPOSAL (R.F.P.) PROCESS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN THE <br />SERVICES OF A VENDOR TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO REPAIR <br />THE RECREATION CENTER ICE RINK AND A UTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE BREWER- <br />GARRETT COMPANY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council previously authorized the Mayor to request proposals <br />for a vendor to provide plumbing and HVAC preventative maintenance services at the <br />Recreation Center; and <br />WHEREAS, The Brewer -Garrett Company was selected in the R.F.P. process and <br />has provided those services to the City, including to the Ice Rink, for several years, <br />delivering excellent service at reasonable cost; and <br />WHEREAS, The Brewer -Garrett Company has worked with, and has a unique <br />understanding of, the sub -surface conditions on site at the Recreation Center Ice Rink as <br />well as its infrastructure and mechanical systems; and <br />WHEREAS, the current proposal is to melt the ice, repair the heating system and <br />remove permafrost buildup; and <br />WHEREAS, the current system is forty-five (45) years old and, as a result, the <br />exact condition is currently unknown, making it difficult to establish an exact cost of <br />repair before melting the ice; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor has requested that this Council dispense with provisions <br />of Chapter 112 of the North Olmsted Codified Ordinances, requiring an R.F.P. process to <br />select the City's Ice Rink repair vendor and further requests that the Council authorize the <br />Mayor to enter into a contract with The Brewer -Garrett Company to provide such service; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the recommendation of the Mayor, it is the desire <br />of this Council to dispense with the R.F.P. process to select a vendor to repair the Ice <br />Rink and, further, to authorize the Mayor to enter into a contract with The Brewer -Garrett <br />Company to serve as said vendor for the Recreation Center Ice Rink repairs. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />
