CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2018 - 110 By: Council President Jones A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A GRANT APPLICATION BY HORIZON ED UCA TION CENTERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DOLLY PARTON IMAGINATION LIBRARY TO PROVIDE BOOKS TO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF S YEARS AT NO COST, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Horizon Education Center is writing a Grant Application to qualify for participation in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a program which has mailed more than 109,703,783 books to young children since 1995 and; WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, and its citizens, including a significant population of pre-school age children, would greatly benefit from and support the effort of Horizon Education Center to qualify for monthly distribution of age appropriate books to children under the age of 5 years, thanks to the generosity and vision of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and; WHEREAS, this Council hereby resolves to unequivocally declare its support of the Grant Application to be filed by the Horizon Education Center to qualify for and participate in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Council and the Administration of the City of North Olmsted do hereby declare their support for the efforts of Horizon Education Center to participate in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library for the benefit of pre-school children and their parents in North Olmsted. SECTION 2: That this Council and the Administration of the City of North Olmsted strongly encourage Horizon Education Center to make application for the book program and respectfully request the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to consider and grant their request, knowing that the City is supportive and grateful for this inspirational program. SECTION 3: That the Clerk of Council be and he is hereby directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Rebekah Dorman, Ph. D, Director of Investment for Children, 8111 Quincy Ave., 2" d Floor, Cleveland, Ohio 44101, with a copy by regular mail to Horizon Education Center. SECTION 4: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further reasons that the deadline for submission of supportive letters is November 26, 2018, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
