CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2018 - 110 <br />By: Council President Jones <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A GRANT APPLICATION BY <br />HORIZON ED UCA TION CENTERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DOLLY <br />PARTON IMAGINATION LIBRARY TO PROVIDE BOOKS TO <br />CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF S YEARS AT NO COST, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Horizon Education Center is writing a Grant Application to qualify for <br />participation in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a program which has mailed more than <br />109,703,783 books to young children since 1995 and; <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, and its citizens, including a significant population of <br />pre-school age children, would greatly benefit from and support the effort of Horizon Education <br />Center to qualify for monthly distribution of age appropriate books to children under the age of 5 <br />years, thanks to the generosity and vision of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and; <br />WHEREAS, this Council hereby resolves to unequivocally declare its support of the Grant <br />Application to be filed by the Horizon Education Center to qualify for and participate in the Dolly <br />Parton Imagination Library. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council and the Administration of the City of North Olmsted do <br />hereby declare their support for the efforts of Horizon Education Center to participate in the Dolly <br />Parton Imagination Library for the benefit of pre-school children and their parents in North Olmsted. <br />SECTION 2: That this Council and the Administration of the City of North Olmsted <br />strongly encourage Horizon Education Center to make application for the book program and <br />respectfully request the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to consider and grant their request, <br />knowing that the City is supportive and grateful for this inspirational program. <br />SECTION 3: That the Clerk of Council be and he is hereby directed to send a certified copy <br />of this Resolution to Rebekah Dorman, Ph. D, Director of Investment for Children, 8111 Quincy <br />Ave., 2" d Floor, Cleveland, Ohio 44101, with a copy by regular mail to Horizon Education Center. <br />SECTION 4: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further <br />reasons that the deadline for submission of supportive letters is November 26, 2018, and further <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect <br />and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
