CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 82- 82 <br />PAGE 2. <br />Commencing with the regular municipal election in 1979 and <br />every fourth (4th) year thereafter, the three (3) members of Council <br />elected at large shall be elected for a term of four (4) years. Said <br />members of Council so elected shall assume office on the first (lst) <br />day of January next following their election. <br />ARTICLE IX <br />NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS <br />SEC. 7 GENERAL PROVISIONS. <br />The City Council shall, no later than December 31, 1984, <br />redistrict the City into six (6) wards so as to have each ward as <br />nearly eQual in population as pxacticable and which shall be bounded <br />by County lines, streets, alleys, avenues, public grounds, canals, <br />water courses, municipal corporate lines, or center lines of platted <br />streets in said wards. <br />If the Council fails to make such subdivision within the six <br />(6) month time requirement, such redistricting shall then be made by <br />the Mayor and Director o£ Law jointly. <br />SECTION 2: That if such amendment is approved by the majority <br />of electors voting thereon at such election, it shall become effective <br />from and after the time of its approval by the electors. <br />SECTION 3: That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />directe-Tc -to cause a copy of the proposed Charter amendment to be <br />published in such a manner as may be authorized by law. <br />SECTION 4: That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authoriz and-uirected to forward a certified copy of this Ordinance <br />to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County. <br />SECTION 5: That the Board of Elections is hereby requested to <br />cause appropriate notice to such election to be duly given in accordance <br />with law. <br />SECTION 6: That this Ordinance is hereby determined to be an <br />emergency necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, <br />praperty, health, and safety of the City, and for the further reason <br />that this Ordinan.ce must be immediately effective in order to permit <br />necessary arrangements to b.e made in su£ficient time for said election; <br />wherefore, this ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its passage, and further prpvided it receives the affirmative vote <br />of two-thirds of all memb.ers elected to Council, it shall take effect <br />and be in force immediately uppn its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: <br />ATTEST: <br />LOREN E C PBELL, CLE K 0 C N IL JAMES D.
