Council Minutes of 5-7-2019
going to e-mail it out to everyone and he wants them to get educated and to hold
all elected officials accountable.
• The Mayor said he has had the Mayor's Run for about 10 years and they always
struggled to get 100 people to show up and they give away a couple thousand
dollars in scholarships. Ken Neuzil would have the Homecoming Run and he
would do the same thing the Mayor did. The Mayor said they got their heads
together and combined the runs and added Fat Heads. They went from struggling
to get 100 people to last year having 922 runners. Before they were able to raise a
couple thousand apiece, mostly on sponsorships because the race never made any
money. This year they raised $21,000 for scholarships. Some of that went to Ken,
some of it went to the Mayor and some went to Fat Heads. If you have younger
kids, get them involved, there is always a need for more volunteers, the people
that got more scholarship money either volunteered or ran in the race before. A
list of the scholarship winners and their accomplishments are attached to the
minutes.
Director of Law Gareau:
• In the case of Darwin Dorsey v. Timothy Ebel they claimed the City was negligent
in maintaining its traffic signalization. The City moved to dismiss and this case
has ended.
• The BZBA met last evening and one of the items on the agenda was Charles
Road. This was the house that was torn down a couple years ago. It currently has
plans for construction of a new home. This is the second one that Council
financed for taking down a nuisance property and construction will be taking
place to put the property back into the market as a good usable single family
residence. There are at least two other properties that are on the market right now
the City was involved in demolishing.
Director of Finance Copfer:
• No Report.
Councilman Limpert Chairman of the Streets and Transportation Committee:
The Streets & Transportation Committee met on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 7:13 p.m.
Present were committee members Limpert, Kearney and Glassburn; Council members
Brossard, Hemann, Schumann and Williamson; Council President Jones; Mayor
Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Safety &
Service Glauner, Director of Planning & Development Lieber, City Engineer DiFranco
and guests.
• Discussed was Ordinance 2019-53. An Ordinance to levy sidewalk assessment
upon listed real property for the total costs incurred by the City of North Olmsted
to repair, replace or construct sidewalks adjacent thereto, as such improvements
were deemed necessary and installed pursuant to the 2018 Sidewalk Program in
the City of North Olmsted. This is a follow-up to a previous meeting on the same
Ordinance. During that meeting there was a question about a resident at 5777
Barton Road who disputed their invoice. Law Director Gareau said he felt the
focus of the committee's review should be whether the work was done and the
2
