CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2019 - 70 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND <br />DEVELOPMENT TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED FOR AN OHIO HISTOR Y FUND GRANT THROUGH THE <br />OHIO HISTORY CONNECTION TO PRODUCER LOCAL HISTORYPUBLIC <br />EVENT, FUR THER A UTHORIZING THE USE OF CITY FUNDS FOR LOCAL <br />MATCH; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO ACCEPT FUNDS, IF <br />AWARDED, AND TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS AS REQUIRED; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Landmarks Commission proposes to apply for the 2019-2020 cycle of the <br />Ohio History Fund, a competitive matching grant program with the mission to spark discovery of <br />Ohio's historical stories, to embrace the present, share the past and transform the future. The <br />Landmarks Commission proposes to organize a one -day heritage festival featuring guided mobile <br />tours of local historical sites, tentatively scheduled for the fall of 2020 at the Frostville Museum, <br />partnering with the Olmsted Historical Society; and <br />WHEREAS, the City can apply for up to $20,000.00 for Programs and Collections projects <br />with required matching funds of 40%. The total anticipated budget for the heritage festival is <br />$10,000.00 and, if awarded, the City's matching contribution would be not more than $4,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, the deadline for grant applications is September 4, 2019. <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Planning and <br />Development to apply for such funding and, if granted, to meet the local contribution requirements <br />and to further authorize the Mayor to execute a contract required to accept such funding. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Planning and Development be and she is hereby <br />authorized to apply for funding from the Ohio History Fund via the Ohio History Connection grant <br />program. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept said funding, if <br />awarded, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if required. <br />SECTION 3: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to spend up to $4,000.00, if <br />required, to satisfy the local contribution grant requirements. <br />
