CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2019 - 88 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDS FOR THE FISCAL <br />YEAR 2020 FOR THE NORTH OLMSTED COMMUNITY PARK WALKING <br />PATH PROJECT, FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT <br />THE GRANT IF AWARDED AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH <br />CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council has determined that the City of North Olmsted qualifies for the <br />2020 Cuyahoga County Municipal Grant Program, a competitive grant program that awards <br />projects meeting a community development need related to the health or welfare of the <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Planning and Development proposes to apply for funds <br />to construct a walking path at the North Olmsted Community Park; and <br />WHEREAS, the maximum grant award is $150,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Planning and Development to make application for said CDBG funding for said project and to <br />authorize the Mayor to accept the grant if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Planning and <br />Development to prepare, sign and submit an application for Community Development Block <br />Grant funds for fiscal year 2020 on behalf of the City of North Olmsted for the North Olmsted <br />Community Park Walking Path and further authorizes the Mayor to accept the grant and execute <br />a contract and any and all other necessary papers, if a grant is awarded. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for Community Development Block Grant funds on or before <br />December 6, 2019, and further, provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all <br />members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and <br />approval by the Mayor. <br />
