WHERE.4S, the North Olmsted Police Department has, for several years, provided a police officer to be assigned to the North Olmsted City School District to perform duties as a School Resource Officer (SRO) with remarkable success: and WWEREAS, the City and the District have worked with NOPD to expand the SRO program to include two (2) police officers as SROs. so that one (1) is assigned to the High School and the new part-time SRO will be assigned to the Middle School. and the District proposes to provide financial support and reimbursement to the City for the SRO to cover costs, including wages and benefits: and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to enter into an Agreement with the School District and accept funding from the School District for the SRO program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COIJIVCH_ OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLIVSTED, COIiA'TYOF CUYAHOG.A AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION l: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to enter into an Agreement with the North Olmsted ('itv, School District, bN and through its Board of I'ALIcation, to provide funding for assignment of a North Olmsted Police Officer to serve as a School Resource Officer (SRO). Said Agreement shall be substantially in the firm marked as f=,xhibit "A" and attached hereto, with only such changes therein as are not substantially adverse to the (:'ity and w-hich are approved by the Director of Law. The Mayor is further authorized to enter into future contracts with the North Olmsted City School District for the SRO program, provided that said future contracts are substantially similar to the contract attached hereto. SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emcrgency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately because the ne:w SRO is available immediately and services are required at the Middle School immediately: and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in Force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
