CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 31 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTIONA UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETYAND <br />SERVICE TO MAKEAPPLICA TION ONBEHALF OF THE CITY OFNOR TH <br />OLMSTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY 50/50 <br />FUNDING PROGRAM FOR 2021 AND 2022 FOR IMPROVEMENT OF <br />BUTTERNUT RIDGE ROAD; FURTHER A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO <br />ACCEPT FUNDS, IF AWARDED, AND TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS AS <br />REQUIRED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works offers opportunities for <br />municipal participation and funding for capital improvement of County Roads through its 50/50 <br />funding program; and <br />WHEREAS, the administration intends to apply for funding to reconstruct Butternut Ridge <br />Road for projects to be commenced in 2021 and 2022. The last major improvement to the road was <br />made in 1992; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Planning and <br />Community Development to apply for such funding and, if granted, to further authorize the Mayor to <br />execute a contract required to accept such funding. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Planning and Community Development be and she is <br />hereby authorized to apply for funding from the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works in <br />order that the City of North Olmsted may participate in their 50/50 funding program. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the said funding, if <br />awarded, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if required. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further <br />reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order to meet the <br />application deadline of February 21, 2020; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote <br />of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
