CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 74 BY: Mayor Kennedy & All of Council A RESOLUTION CONDEMNING RACISM AND ENCOURAGING A COMMITMENT TO FAIR AND EQUAL TREATMENT FOR ALL. WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, Ohio, its Mayor and City Council are deeply saddened by the tragic events that continue to occur across our country; and WHEREAS, racism and hate have no place in North Olmsted, and the City is committed to opposing all forms of racism, discrimination and injustice. The City is committed to ensuring that the Constitutional rights of every person who lives, works, and visits our great City are protected; and WHEREAS, the Mayor, City Council and all Departments and Divisions of the City continue steadfast in the commitment to fight against racism and discrimination and treat everyone with respect and dignity regardless race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age; and WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is committed to honesty and transparency and will work to foster a culture of trust with those it serves and, additionally, it is committed to working diligently every day to exceed expectations in all aspects of service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THIS CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO. SECTION 1: The Mayor and City Council of the City of North Olmsted, Ohio stand steadfast with all citizens of North Olmsted against discrimination and racism and reaffirm the City's commitment to fighting for racial justice, equality and civil rights for all. SECTION 2: The Mayor and City Council, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted's Departments and Divisions and all of its City staff, are committed to engaging in a meaningful communication and dialog with the community to address issues of racism, discrimination and intolerance and the impact of such attitudes on individuals and on the community as a whole. SECTION 3: It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the adoption of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. SECTION 4: This Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
