CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 74 <br />BY: Mayor Kennedy & All of Council <br />A RESOLUTION CONDEMNING RACISM AND <br />ENCOURAGING A COMMITMENT TO FAIR AND <br />EQUAL TREATMENT FOR ALL. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, Ohio, its Mayor and City Council are deeply <br />saddened by the tragic events that continue to occur across our country; and <br />WHEREAS, racism and hate have no place in North Olmsted, and the City is <br />committed to opposing all forms of racism, discrimination and injustice. The City is <br />committed to ensuring that the Constitutional rights of every person who lives, works, and <br />visits our great City are protected; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor, City Council and all Departments and Divisions of the City <br />continue steadfast in the commitment to fight against racism and discrimination and treat <br />everyone with respect and dignity regardless race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, <br />national origin, disability or age; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is committed to honesty and transparency and <br />will work to foster a culture of trust with those it serves and, additionally, it is committed to <br />working diligently every day to exceed expectations in all aspects of service. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THIS CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO. <br />SECTION 1: The Mayor and City Council of the City of North Olmsted, Ohio stand <br />steadfast with all citizens of North Olmsted against discrimination and racism and reaffirm the <br />City's commitment to fighting for racial justice, equality and civil rights for all. <br />SECTION 2: The Mayor and City Council, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted's <br />Departments and Divisions and all of its City staff, are committed to engaging in a <br />meaningful communication and dialog with the community to address issues of racism, <br />discrimination and intolerance and the impact of such attitudes on individuals and on the <br />community as a whole. <br />SECTION 3: It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the adoption of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of <br />this Council, and that all deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted <br />in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal <br />requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />SECTION 4: This Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the <br />earliest period allowed by law. <br />
