CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 143 BY: Mayor Kennedy A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND AFFIRMING THE MAYOR'S ACCEPTANCE OF CASH DONATIONS OFFERED BY SEVERAL DONORS INAMOUNTS OVER $1,000.00 TO BE USED BY THE OXCART PANTRY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the following generous charitable and religious organizations have offered to make cash donations or have already tendered donations for the benefit of the Oxcart Pantry to support its mission to provide food for those in need: 6/2/20 Ascension Lutheran Church $1,276.00 7/2/20 John W. Barkley Lodge 4621 $1,600.00 8/11/20 Ascension Lutheran Church $1,050.00 11/18/20 Bob's Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation $2,000.00 WHEREAS, the Mayor requests that Council recognize and accept these generous donations, pursuant to Section 131.06 of the Administrative Code, and join in his expression of gratitude on behalf of the City of North Olmsted, the Oxcart Pantry and the entire community; and WHEREAS, this Council desires to authorize and affirm the Mayor's acceptance of these several cash donations in amounts over $1,000.00 with the sincerest appreciation of Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THIS CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO. SECTION 1: That the City of North Olmsted authorizes and affirms the Mayor's acceptance of the following cash donations, referenced by date, donor and amount, to be used by the Oxcart Pantry and further authorizes the Mayor to execute any documentation necessary or appropriate to document such donations: 6/2/20 Ascension Lutheran Church $1276.00 7/2/20 John W. Barkley Lodge #621 $1,600.00 8/11/20 Ascension Lutheran Church $1,050.00 11/18/20 Bob's Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation $2,000.00 SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council initiate, on behalf of this Council and the City of North Olmsted, correspondence thanking the donors for their generous donation to the Oxcart Pantry. SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further reason that the Oxcart Pantry may put these funds to immediate use during the holiday season; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
