CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 151 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION APPROVING OF AND A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO <br />ENTER INTO A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />OHIO PATROLMEN'S BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION FOR THE CITY'S <br />DISPATCHER EMPLOYEES FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 2021 <br />THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2023, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, <br />AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Ohio has heretofore adopted legislation calling <br />for collective bargaining agreements with public employees; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association has been recognized as the <br />exclusive bargaining agent for the City's Police Dispatcher Employees; and <br />WHEREAS, the Administration has conducted bargaining this year with the members of <br />said bargaining unit and has concluded the process with an agreement that is satisfactory to the <br />Administration and the bargaining unit; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to approve of and authorize the Mayor to <br />enter into a collective bargaining agreement with the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association <br />on behalf of the said Dispatcher Employees for the period January 1, 2021 through December 31, <br />2023. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by and between the <br />Administration and The Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association, on behalf of the City's <br />Dispatcher Employees, a copy of which is attached to this legislation as "Exhibit A," is approved <br />and the Mayor is authorized to execute the said Agreement. <br />SECTION 2: That the effective date of all wage and other economic benefits provided <br />for in said Agreement, unless otherwise expressly specified therein, shall be January 1, 2021. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to <br />the fact that the current labor contract is set to expire on January 1, 2021; and further provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be <br />in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
