CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 152 By: Mayor Kennedy A RESOL UTION APPROVING OF AND A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO ENTER INTO A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, OHIO LABOR COUNCIL, INC. FOR PATROLMAN, SERGEANTS AND LIEUTENANT EMPLOYEES WITHIN THE CITY'S DIVISION OF POLICE FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 2021 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2023, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Ohio has heretofore adopted legislation calling for collective bargaining agreements with public employees; and WHEREAS, The Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc. has been recognized as the exclusive bargaining agent for the City's patrolman, sergeants and lieutenants; and WHEREAS, the Administration has conducted bargaining this year with the members of said bargaining unit and has concluded the process with an agreement that is satisfactory to the Administration and the bargaining unit; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to approve of and authorize the Mayor to enter into a collective bargaining agreement with The Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc. on behalf of the said patrolman, sergeants and lieutenants for the period January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2023. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by and between the Administration and The Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc., on behalf of the City's patrolman, sergeants and lieutenants, a copy of which is attached to this legislation as "Exhibit A," is approved and the Mayor is authorized to execute the said Agreement. SECTION 2: That the effective date of all wage and other economic benefits provided for in said Agreement, unless otherwise expressly specified therein, shall be January 1, 2021. SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to the fact that the current labor contract is set to expire on December 31, 2020; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
