CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 153 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION APPRO VING OF AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />ENTER INTO A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE, OHIO LABOR COUNCIL, INC. FOR <br />CORRECTIONS OFFICERS EMPLOYEES WITHIN THE CITY'S <br />DIVISION OF POLICE FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 2021 THROUGH <br />DECEMBER 31, 2023, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AS <br />AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Ohio has heretofore adopted legislation calling <br />for collective bargaining agreements with public employees; and <br />WHEREAS, The Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc. has been <br />recognized as the exclusive bargaining agent for the City's Corrections Officers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Administration has conducted bargaining this year with the members of <br />said bargaining unit and has concluded the process with an agreement that is satisfactory to the <br />Administration and the bargaining unit; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to approve of and authorize the Mayor to <br />enter into a collective bargaining agreement with The Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor <br />Council, Inc. on behalf of the said Corrections Officers for the period January 1, 2021 through <br />December 31, 2023. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by and between the <br />Administration and The Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council, Inc., on behalf of the <br />City's Corrections Officers, a copy of which is attached to this legislation as "Exhibit A," is <br />approved and the Mayor is authorized to execute the said Agreement. <br />SECTION 2: That the effective date of all wage and other economic benefits provided <br />for in said Agreement, unless otherwise expressly specified therein, shall be January 1, 2021. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to <br />the fact that the current labor contract is set to expire on December 31, 2020; and further <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take <br />effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
