CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2021 - 9 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPLY FOR AN <br />ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />OBTAINING FUNDS TO ACQUIRE TWO (2) DIESEL EXHAUST <br />REMOVAL SYSTEMS FOR FIRE STATIONS ONE AND TWO AND <br />FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, IF THE APPLICATION IS <br />GRANTED, TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />APPROPRIATE AGENCY TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT FUNDS, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") has invited <br />application for the Assistance to Firefighters Grants ("AFG") Program; and <br />WHEREAS, by and through grant funds, the North Olmsted Division of Fire desires to <br />purchase two diesel exhaust removal systems; and <br />WHEREAS, AFG grant awards aim to enhance response capabilities and to more <br />effectively protect the health and safety of the public with respect to fire and other hazards. The <br />grants enable local fire departments and emergency medical services organizations to obtain <br />training, conduct first responder health and safety programs, and buy equipment and response <br />vehicles; and <br />WHEREAS, a 10% matching fund on the part of the City will be required and the cost is <br />estimated to be One Hundred and Ten Thousand Dollars ($110,000.00); and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to apply for the <br />Department of Homeland Security Assisota�coea�oeF�r�h Firefighters <br />awarant rded, andeto executeneeded <br />a <br />equipment, to further authorize the May p <br />contract if required; and to authorize the Mayor to execute all other documents necessary to <br />effectuate receipt of the Grant. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to apply for the Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grant. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the Grant, if <br />awarded, on behalf of the City of No to rtexedand to execute a contract, if required; Cute call other documents necessary to effectuate <br />that <br />receipt <br />the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized <br />receipt of the Grant. <br />1 <br />
