Commission in accordance with Article XIV, Section (b)(1) of the City Charter, and the Commission <br />on the 28th day of May, 2020, filed a written report with the Clerk of Council in which the <br />Commission stated that, by a 7 to 0 vote, a motion to recommend approval of the proposal passed; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, this Council has adopted this Ordinance, as required by state law, no sooner <br />than 120 days, and no later than 60 days, prior to the date of the election at which the issue will be <br />voted upon by the electorate. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, STATE OF OHIO, AND TWO - THIRDS OF <br />ALL MEMBERS CONCURRING THAT: <br />SECTION]. Pursuant to Article XVIII, Section 9 of the Ohio Constitution, and Article XII <br />of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted, this Council authorizes and directs that the following <br />proposal to amend the Charter of the City of North Olmsted be submitted to the electors of the City <br />of North Olmsted at an election to be held at the usual places of voting in the City on Tuesday, <br />November 3, 2020: <br />That Article VII, Section 3 of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted be amended to abolish the <br />Parks and Recreation Commission. It presently reads as follows: <br />SEC. 3. PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION. <br />The Parks and Recreation Commission shall consist of six (6) members who shall serve without <br />compensation. The Mayor, subject to confirmation by Council, shall appoint two (2) members <br />who are qualified electors and residents of North Olmsted and who do not hold any other elected <br />or appointed public office and are not employees of the City. Council shall appoint one (1) <br />member who shall be a member of Council and one (1) member who shall be a qualified elector <br />and resident of North Olmsted and who does not hold any other elected or appointed public <br />office and is not an employee of the City. <br />The North Olmsted City School District Board of Education shall appoint one (1) member who <br />shall be a member of such Board of Education and one (1) member who shall be a qualified <br />elector and resident of North Olmsted and who does not hold any other elected or appointed <br />public office and is not an employee of the School District. Each of the appointed members of <br />said Commission shall be appointed for a term of five (5) years, except that of the six (6) <br />members appointed for the term beginning January 1, 1971, the City Council shall appoint one <br />(1) member for a term of one (1) year and one (1) member for a term of four (4) years, the Board <br />of Education shall appoint one (1) member for a term of two (2) years and one (1) member for a <br />term of five (5) years. In the event that a Board of Education member or Council member, who <br />has been appointed to the Parks and Recreation Commission, ceases to be a member of the Board <br />of Education or Council for any reason, then such appointee's membership on the Parks and <br />2 <br />
