May 2, 2021
Letter to City Council to be read at the May 5th meeting of Council.
To City Council and the Administration:
I see that the North Olmsted Home Days is cancelled once again
because of the uncertainty regarding the Pandemic. There will be a
parade but Community Council cannot commit to providing the
Amusement Rides or the live entertainment. This is understandable.
May I make a suggestion? A two day Home Day community picnic
in the park. North Olmsted's park is large enough to safely have such
event. Some food trucks, maybe a car show, and some tents of
interest can be place far enough apart to be safe in the outside
environment. Picnic tables place far enough apart along with a Beer
Tent for the mayor should be easily accommodated with a park this
size. Bringing people safely together is the main purpose. This
community needs that.
Just an idea and the nice part of this is that there won't be any
advance contractual commitments. It can be planned and modified
as needed almost up to 2 weeks of the event. I suggest that city
officials sit down with Community Council and discuss this and see if
both sides can come up with some sort of alternative plan besides
just doing nothing again this year.
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Ln.
